This afternoon, Saturday, a friend and I went to the local Iris Show. We'd never been to one before, but as it was free admission we thought it would be a nice thing to do on a Saturday afternoon. The photo here shows one of the tables of Iris exhibits on display. We were both amazed at the variety of colour and the beauty of some of the flowers. I've really ever known the traditional Iris flowers, so this was quite a beautiful experience for me. After we'd taken in the beauty of the exhibitin we came back to my home, which was nearby, where we drank coffee and talked for an hour or so. I find it quite stimulating to do new things such as this flower show. We're lucky there is so much on offer to do here where we live.

Not sure @LadyDuck. I actually said in a comment a few weeks ago it's time I started reading or re-reading Agatha Christie as it's been a long time.

I have been to the odd camellia, orchid or daffodil show and similarly been amazed by the variety within the species. I particularly loved the daffodils we saw in Hobart one year.

I love driving past the paddocks that have masses of daffodils growing in them.

@JudyEv not wild, they are cultivated and open in September each year for people to come and pick their own.

@valmnz Do they grow wild over there or do you mean cultivated daffodils? In our area arum lilies grow wild and are a declared weed. They do look lovely though.

I hope @marsha32 comes across your post. Her favorite flower is the iris. She even has some her oldest child got her in kindergarten, over twenty years ago. These are lovely and the colors are so deep and rich.

There were some amazing colours there, but my favourites are still these more traditional colours. I was going to buy some to grow at home, but they were quite expensive

I've never tried to grow them, but remember we had them in our limited garden when I was a child. I think they probably grew wild there.

That is nice. We have a lot of community oriented things to do. One thing I would like to go to again is the Christmas Tree Festival. Many trees decorated by local businesses. It is great.
