Panic in the Bedroom

Frog on the Flywire

I wasn't going to write another post today but thought I'd really like to share the last five minutes with you. I was sitting at the computer reading, liking, responding, commenting as we all do when there was a yell from somewhere in the house. But it had a ring of panic in it as though there was something really wrong – an emergency even. What with all the worries about fires in our state lately, my first thought was that there was a fire down the paddock perhaps. I abandoned all my friends here and hurried out into the lounge. And what do I find? Vince went off to have a shower and discovered a green frog in the bedroom. He said it was huge but he lied. It was tiny. Anyway we were able to drop a plastic ice-cream container over it, slip some cardboard underneath and I, me, myself and I took it into the garden while Vince hid behind the door. Well, there's a bit of poetic licence there but not much. Are you married to a wimp? That's a coward in other words, in case wimp isn't a word in common usage. And now I'm off to bed. Goodnight all. PS: The picture is of a different frog.

It's always I, me, myself, who takes care of those matters, while hubby hides behind a door.

hahaha! is he like that all the time? sometimes there's just this one thing that a man is very afraid of. like how a flying cockroach can make the bravest of men scream and run.

They are supposed to be getting fewer I think. We were at a friend's place the other day and in his little pond he has a 'motorbike frog'. It sounds exactly like a motorbike.

It's often funny that so many men who look like big strong brutes are actually the biggest scaredy cats when it comes to the small things. I have seen many a macho man run screaming like a girl at the site of the tiniest spider. Although it is pretty funny to watch!

I don´t mind frogs out side, but I agree that having one in the bedroom is not as good a company. Maybe you were not afraid because you thought you could turn it into a prince?

@sofssu In Germany and Austria, some people had trouble pronouncing a 'V' and they'd call him either 'Wince' or sometimes 'Bince'. I had trouble keeping a straight face.

I love frogs - toads, not so much. My wife is a wimp about several things - mice, creepy crawlies, kids injections - but tough enough about other things to earn a pass mark.

@JudyEv - My wife's cousin runs Kimberley Toadbusters - my daughter Taz went over there to slay a few cane toads as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award a couple of years ago. You might like to find out a bit more about this organization - it's doing important work for you West Coasters.

@troyburns I've just been to the website. It is certainly great work that they are doing. The number of species already affected by the cane toad is very disturbing. A couple of toads reached Perth in long-haulage trucks. I think it's only a matter of time before they start appearing in the more southerly areas.

I'm not sure I'd know a toad from a frog. I do think I'd freak out if I encountered a cane toad though, and they seem to be heading south. They seem particularly large and repugnant.

Sometimes there is a small frog that gets into our bathroom downstairs too . I just get a plastic dustpan and a broom and throw it out to the backyard . I am not afraid of a frog , but would be surprised when it leaps.

@JudyEv My husband's job kept him working 12 hours a day from May to November. My sister was divorced with three small kids so we got together every summer to make sure the kids had fun camping and fun together as cousins at my parents house. Where we camp there are no snakes, well I'm sure they are there but we've only seen two in the 35 years we've been doing this and they were sunning on a rock and were no threat.

@PainsOnSlate I think most snakes avoid people if they can. I think it is great when cousins see a lot of each other. Sometimes it is hard to maintain these links.
