Turkey Soup is the new Chicken Soup

United States

Since my husband isn't feeling up to par, I thought a nice big bowl of homemade soup would make him feel better. Since most people eat chicken soup in a case like this that was my first idea. But I had to change it up since I don't have chicken. But I do have leftover turkey! I had the Thanksgiving turkey remains in the freezer thank goodness! There wasn't much meat left on the bone of that turkey breast but I got enough for the flavor. I added chicken stock, carrots and celery and the house smelled wonderful. I wanted to make turkey noodle and the only noodle-ish pasta I could find in the pantry was fettuccine. I broke the pasta up into 3-4 inch lengths and I guess I turned turkey soup into Italian turkey soup! It smells so good I might have some with dinner! Can you smell it? Delish!

@Jessicalynnt With soup or stew you can make it as hearty or thin as you like.

I'm not a real soup fan and I must say it was very good - and enough left for more tomorrow.

@AbbyGreenhill I like stuff that is more like stew with meat, something hearty, not light and thin

Sorry to hear your husband isn't feeling well. I had hoped to make turkey stew myself with a thick gravy but we had so many left over meals, I used it all up. So my next goal is ham. Have you ever made a ham soup? I've got know clue and would love to try and make it or even a ham pot pie.

Actually I make bean soup and you put ham in that. That was my father's favorite soup. I have never made a pot pie but I do love any kind of pot pie.

I don't think the soup will make him better but the antibiotics are helping for sure.
