A Weird Dream

Last night I had a weird dream, I was in the IRA and on the run from the police. It was a complicated dream but concluded with a problem, how to escape without being hurt or arrested. It was too much for my dream to cope with so it woke me up, with my conscious mind trying to find the solution for the dream. I was left wondering where such a dream could have originated. I have no interest in the IRA, I'm not Irish and the 'Irish problems' are not in the news and certainly I cannot find a single thread in the previous day that might have birthed such a dream. Dreams are weird things, subject to superstition and even speculation about their prophetic properties.

If you were in the IRA you'd need to worry about people from my area rather than the police...police would arrest you...some of the people I know would shoot you Dreams are really weird things

@41CombedaleRoad probably best if youre in the IRA even as a little kid in the early 80's I remember them going under their cars with mirrors on sticks and cursing the IRA.

@41CombedaleRoad actually youve made me remeber a few things. my grandparents used to have pre new year drinks and invite neighbours. I can remember the instructors talking about their candidates and how they'd do over the water and talking about stuff like the paddy factor and other things. Isn't it weird how a random thing can sort of open up your mind and make you remember stuff. I distinctly remember my granddad making drinks and putting in cherries from a jar and a sort of paper umbrella on a cocktail stick.

@41combedale Now that is most disturbing. I've given up trying to trace the origins of my dreams - they are just too unfathomable. Try to think of more pleasant things before you go to sleep and stay out of the IRA!!

I fall asleep as soon as my head touches the pillow so there's not much time to think anything pleasant or otherwise. I did have Mexican food that evening, may be it is the food I should be careful about.

there are many components to dreams much is symbolism, the dream could be indicating that you are avoiding something in your life, maybe an unpleasant person or an unpleasant event.

I hate those dreams, I cannot get back to sleep trying to find a solution. I wonder why we have such weird dreams.

When I wrote the post I was hoping that someone might have an answer to that question, after all MyLot is like an organic encyclopedia, someone somewhere might have an idea.

@41CombedaleRoad I have no clues here, you are not Irish, so it makes no sense.

It's strange isn't it? They say it's our mind sorting out stuff but you do wonder where it originates from.

I remember reading that our dreams are caused by our brain doing an overnight filing system recording the day, but it must be a rather strange system to produce last night's dream.

@41CombedaleRoad That's what I read - except you put it much better than I did! But if that's so, I think my filing system needs an update!

"It was too much for my dream to cope with so it woke me up" This seems to happen to me a lot too, one benefit is you tend to remember your dream then though. They say dreaming about Police means that the person has some type of an authority issue. I often dream of getting caught by a ticket inspector on a train for not having a valid ticket. I am afraid of getting caught by them, even if I have a ticket, I am afraid that I might have lost it, or something. These dreams depend perhaps a lot on the characterisation of that person representing the authority figure in your dream in their relationship to you. See the size of the person. Are you afraid of their outer ability to harm you, or does this really mean that there is some inner issue regarding authority that you are not connecting to. Perhaps this is alluding to our connection to our higher self, because we don’t want to be bossed around by some other aspect of our self like this then too, even if just in a dream. I am fascinated with dreams.

Maybe you are trying to find a solution to a problem in real life, possibly one where you do not wish for anyone to have hurt feelings?
