We've been out to tea with good friends tonight. We helped them stuff a spinnaker for a yacht into a sleeve then into a container. They sailed around the world for around six years in an aluminium yacht that they built themselves. They have now sold it and it should be off their property by soon after New Year.
We had immunisation shots against shingles this morning and so far don't even have a sore arm. Just a sore wallet - $200 each!
We fly out tomorrow for Melbourne to join our son for Christmas. I won't be taking the laptop so have a wonderful Christmas everyone and we'll see you when we return on Sunday.

Thanks very much. We did have a lovely few days with our son. Our other son rang from Ireland and we were all able to talk together - first time for many years.

Thanks. We had a nice time with our son. A relaxed quiet day as it was very hot. On Boxing Day we helped with some DIY at his place.

Thanks. I hope you had a great Christmas too. It was almost 40C on Christmas Day but rained on Saturday. Typical Melbourne weather.

Thanks very much. Hope you enjoyed the festive season too. We're home again now. Time ticks inexorably on, doesn't it? All the hype and planning and suddenly it's all over.

Have a wonderful Christmas! You were wise to get that shingles shot. I got one as soon as I turned 60 because I have had several friends who got the shingles. In one case, the shingles went into our friend's spine. Now, he drags one foot when he walks. He has gone to a number of specialists, including the Mayo Clinic, and they all said they could not help him. The shingles did permanent nerve damage.

It can be quite dreadful in its effects I know. We've had no after-effects luckily bar some slight discomfort if we lie on the spot too long.

Once you've had shingles it can recur whenever you get a bit rundown apparently. I know it's extremely painful.
