Do you still have "likes" in your MyLot Notifications?

I've changed! When I first started here, I thought of "likes" with no comment as a conversation ender, and I rarely used the "like" tab. I still prefer comments to likes, but I've started liking things I like before I respond. Sometimes I'll like something and realize I have nothing to say, so I'll move on until later. But I admit it: I finally eliminated likes from my Notifications. Likes meant I was getting way too many Notifications, and sorting through them was a pain. I still appreciate likes, but I can't respond to likes, so seeing them in Notifications serves no purpose for me. Do your Notifications still include likes? Or have you made your Notifications more "targeted"?

no, i've never had likes in my notifications as they don't require looking at. All I have is if someone responds/comments/mentions me or follows me. I've just got it so I don't miss someone directly communicating with me.

Right. If I can, I like to respond to all comments, whether it's on my post or another. That way, conversations are maintained.

No, I have customized my notifications and they do not include the "likes". I have from 80 to 110 notifications when I start in the morning, I think they are enough.

I don't have THAT many, but I have enough to keep me busy with my morning coffee.

@Marty1 Your discussions are interesting, I am sure that people enjoy to read what you write. I have also some busy days and I cannot always respond immediately to people.

I use the 'like' to finish a interaction. I have gotten into the habit of using it on each response or comment I make. I still get likes in my notifications.

I like to keep a conversation going. It's good for everyone. But eventually, I run out of things to say. That's when I say "Ciao" with a like and no comment.

I "liked" your post! I still keep the notifications there. I unsubscribed to mail from myLot recently though since I was getting a ton and they kept filling up my mail box!

I only get a few a day and I can choose to read them or ignore them. But they always lead me to people who are responding to my posts. So I still get email Notifications.

@TheHorse I have been using my iWatch lately and every time I receive a notification from myLot, the email pops up so I had to remove myLot email notification.

@infatuatedbby Oh, I do all of my computing from my desktop, so I don't get anything invasive. I read the emails I want to read.

I haven't yet taken likes out of my notifications, I think I may though. The worst aspect of notifications is that I often get three notifications, the like, there is a comment on your comment/response, and X mentioned you. With these three notification I take one action, go to the post and respond as necessary. Then I delete the three notifications - boring! To my mind you should only have the one notification (the senior one of the set).

That's my primary way of finding people. If they comment on my post, I try to comment on their comment, and the go visit a post of theirs.

I removed the Like notifications a long time ago. They do not warrant any action, so they simply constitute a distraction when progressing through the notifications.

MyLot says.."I am going to discriminate here...only people we like get to hide those likes" Vanny.."Oh why?" MyLot..."Because you can't do a thing about it?" Vanny..."But the last time TheHorse did mention it" MyLot.. "Yes, but you are an Indian, and you must be habituated to such discrimination by now". Vanny..."Yes"..sad...sighs...and well.. Likes are likes...who does not want them. At least I know somebody liked it..:)

You are Indian and female! You should know your place. If a male decides you should be abe to hide likes in your Notifications, then perhaps it will be so. If you run along and make me some tea, perhaps I'll lobby on your behalf. (evil, smily face, and ironic emoticons)

@TheHorse Yes I do because there are times that I find that I may like a discussion but have nothing to comment on regarding it. So I know that others may feel the same way on occasion also.

@Juliaacv True. I guess I should keep my eyes on likes as well as comments. But I'll probably still respond to comments first.

@TheHorse yep, even after the "likes" are gone, I still have some 45 to 60 notifications everytime I log on. Some are dupes, so need to manage it better I think

@Drosophila Same here. Generally about 45 if I've been away for awhile, with some duplications. I don't want to lose the "mentions," though so I'll live with the duplications.

I do not include "likes" in my notification. I usually concentrate on reading the responses and replying to the comments, these have taken me lots of time. Yes, I appreciate likes too, but I just can't do more about it, so I just exclude them from the list. If I have cleared my notification, I'd like to go to Explore for more discussions.

I no longer get likes, even so the list is formidable. I do occasionally 'like' others but I do wonder if it is a waste of time, if I like something enough I usually comment.
