Come on guys you have to admit you’re addicted to MyLot. You’d rather spend time here on the site than watching one of those old soap operas any day. Here on MyLot we don’t need to pay expensive screen writers to keep us entertained. We have it all here right before us. We can just sit back in the comfort of our homes and watch the drama unfold on our computer screen daily. Here on the site we have real life 1. Tragedy 2. Drama 3. Disputes 4. Blockers 5. Discussions 6. Life 7. Death 8. Real life affairs 9. Gossip 10. Heated Discussion Now folks tell me where you’ll find that on a soap opera. Plus it’s all free. All you need to do is spend a little time on the site and get to know the writers. Plus there is never any reruns to watch or a new season to wait for. What more can you ask for? Not a whole lot as I see it. MyLot has it all for you. OK guys and gals admit it - MyLot is better than any soap opera you’ve ever watched before. What keeps you coming back for more on MyLot?

I have often thought exactly the same. It works especially well if one can take a step back, from time to time and enjoy other people's little shindigs That doesn't mean that you shouldn't dive in and participate yourself sometimes, of course. Others deserve their enjoyment of the Great Soap too!

Yes lately the drama had me thinking of calling my post Days of our Live on MyLot. The old soap opera played on for years and years. This is sort of how it is feeling right now on the site. I had a good laugh when I wrote this one up. Wonder if others will find the humor in this one.

@poehere I can think of several people with whom I think it will resonate (when they awake from their slumbers and log on). That's it, really. It's a never-ending story which unfolds inexorably as dawn creeps round the globe.

@owlwings Yes sort of like Sebastian and the Never ending story. I think you got it. Yeah your right each day the drama seem to unfold on the site as people starting coming here from around the globe.

An interesting analogy. Of course soap operas are total fiction, whereas here the majority of postings are most certainly true.

Yes they are. But here if you think of it the stores start to un-fold like on a TV soap or series.

@poehere A soap opera is always far more controversial than reality is.

@Asylum Here it seems we have a lot of that from time to time. If you start reading comments on some posts you'll find it here. It can be funny and entertaining.

First of all, I don't watch soaps, never did. I am addicted to chocolate, but not to this site. I enjoy it here, but it certainly isn't an addiction.

@poehere I worked and the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was to watch everyone crying on the soaps.

@AbbyGreenhill I never found them interesting. I like more crime and drama shows if I do watch TV. I am into action and not some teary eyed soap opera.

@Drosophila No need to do that now. We are all her to entertain you. The drama on the site can keep you going for weeks on end and never stop. You can laugh, cry, or join in to the discussion. It's all here and no need to look further.

Hehehe - you just gave it away. You use to watch them. I have never, ever watched one. But I do know plenty of people who are addicted to them and have to watch them.

That's funny. Back when I was in school a lot of the male students (not me though) watched soap operas just to see the beautiful actresses. For me the soap operas were too dull for the beautiful actresses to peak my interest enough to watch them. I still have no interest in watching soap operas. The funny thing is back then I didn't hear anything about female students watching because of the hunky actors, but I'm sure they did.

In all of my life I never once watched a soap opera. I had a friend who had to watch General Hospital and Days of our Lives. When they came on she unplugged her phone. I left her alone and went home.

@poehere I had an aunt who always watched General Hospital. One day I went to visit her. I looked at my watch and thought it was about time for it to come on. I asked her if I should leave so she could watch her soap opera. She said, "No. The show has gotten so goofy I no longer watch it. It's full of space aliens and crap like that." I held my tongue, but I wanted to say, "All soap operas are full of crap."

It's a place for all sorts to come and discuss all sorts of subjects. For some it becomes a soap opera. But it is free and it is up to us what we answer or don't answer.

@poehere ...But that isn't all we do here. I wasn't even aware of the level this subject had gotten to on here. I don't get to discussions very often. I am usually trying to answer all the notifications.

@celticeagle I found a lot of the drama in comments on some older posts of mine an then went to go and look. Yes I did find some of it and started last week to write it up. Well this week it still marches on and the subject matter hasn't stopped yet. One take it and then all the others run with it. Seems that is the norm on here now. So if you missed one I'm sure you'll find another one laying around and it will catch you up on all of that stuff. So basically don't worry the drama unfolds daily and you're sure to find it now and then.

As much as I would like to write something all nice I can not. I suppose we could find anything funny if we tried hard enough. In my opinion much but not all but much of what you described is not. Nor is it a recommendation. Nor will it provide a good review for a social media site. I've seen and read worse though. The face book site for example has proven to be both a really good well know resource for people and a real piece of crap. But then I suppose you could say the same about the internet or television soap opera's for that matter. In short calling any site "the soap opera of the internet" in my opinion is not a good review or is it a direction any site would want to go in if it had a choice?

@poehere You don't have to be sorry but I guess I did make it sound like there was something wrong with your post. Sorry about that. It wasn't my intention. My intention was to look at the subject of soap opera sites? By the way, why do my posts need to be "the wrong way" except if you took it that way? What I did mean and perhaps could have worded it differently is that in my opinion which is not "wrong" but my opinion is that these things you have described in my eye are not all that funny but pathetic. - I'm serious now. In my opinion things like gossip, obsession with blocking and drama is pretty much negative interaction. How can it be referred to as good points about any site?

All this is saying is that the site is more interesting than a soap opera. It was a joke and pointing out the good points here on the site and the number of writers who add to them. Sorry you took it the wrong way.

@Bluedoll You are so right it can't be referred to as good points about any site. Recently that is what I've seen. So with melodrama and all it just stuck me funny. First thing that came to mind was soap opera. This person doing something and people jumping on the band wagon. here we call it voice of the coconut tree. On the islands news spreads via the coconut tree. (don't worry this is a joke too)

MyLot is certainly a big community. And we do get snippets of the lives of others. Don't actually watch soap operas , though i do listen to the Archers on Radio 4 which has been going since I was a child!

I've never met anyone who listens to the Archers, nor listens to radio 4. You are the first. I did try to listen to the book at bedtime for a while to try to help me sleep, but it didn't work. I am still a Jackanory man. The shipping forecast is riveting, but not on long enough. I learnt Rockall from it.

@HanVanMeegerin Both are uncalled for if you ask me. But I could see deleting a comment if a person came to your post and commented something stupid on each comments. Say for example you had 20 responses and around 70 comments back and forth. This person entered something stupid on each and every one of them. Then it would be OK to delete all that mess.

To my understanding mylot can't be the new anything because it has been here for years paying nonpaying and paying again. I think people come here for the same reason they go to facebook to catch up with friends and as an added bonus they make money doing so. I am still making my way around the site. I was here once for a short time maybe a month my friend introduced me to the old mylot (when it paid) it stopped paying shortly there after and everyone disappeared. some of the names I am seeing look familiar now but yet different. I guess because I never really got to know anyone in the short time I was here before. I found out on another site that mylot was "back" so I figured it would be a site where people would be and something to do with a little of my extra time when I am not on facebook and the added bonus I will make a few cents here and there. :) I am not addicted to mylot but maybe some day I can say I am.

Well welcome to the site. It is sort of a joking around post here. I guess in the last week or so there has been some drama on the site and it is just a post to play arund with. I know it isn't the new soap opera of the internet. It was a joke.
