I met a girl beyond compare one day
the sight of her took my breath away
so, I took her home to mama, and said look what I found
mama just looked at me and frowned.
mama ran her off and said I must've lost my mind
she said boy you can't bring home every single girl you find
be patient and the right one will come along in time
but, mama ran off every girl I find
Than I met a girl that was like one in a million years
That, one in a million appeared
so, I took her home to mama, and said look what I found
Once again, mama looked at me and frowned

Than I met a girl who could pass as mama's twin
somewhat short, and not exactly thin
so, I took her home to mama, thinking this is it
Mama smiled but, daddy pitched a fit
Daddy ran her off and said I must've lost my mind
he said boy you've been out in the sun too long this time
he promised he'd enroll me in a school for the blind
I thought poor ole' daddy was gonna lose his mind
between them they run off every single girl I find

This is a good one, ha ha. But, seriously, I know a real life story like that. A guy brought home a girl he really liked, his Mom didn't like her, so he dropped her. He ended up getting married to another woman , and that marriage didn't last. I often think, if he had not obeyed his Mom and dropped the first girl he was really in love with, his life would have been much happier.

Great lyrics. We broke up once before we were engaged and Vince's mum told him next time try to find a good Catholic girl! But we (his Mum and I) always stayed the best of friends.
