I need a little help from my myLot friends

I posed a question to a problem that I have in a comment and it was suggested by @mysdianait that I turn that question into a discussion. Hopefully someone here can help me or point me in the right direction. I cannot watch U-Tube Videos. When I click on the arrow to start them they buffer and buffer and buffer some more. I have never gotten beyond that point. It is frustrating and I just avoid trying any longer. So, if anyone has a clue what I can do you'll be my hero. Thanks in advance! update: I tried some of the things suggested below and I don't know how or which fix - but I can, at least now, see u-tube videos....don't ask which suggestion worked since I tried the all before I tried watching a video!

I think the same as Koalemos, it can be a browser issue, or even a setting of your firewall or antivirus. Did you change anything in your configuration? Is it a long time that you have the problem? Was YouTube working before?

@AbbyGreenhill Are you using a WI-FI connection and a smartphone, or a LAN cable and a computer? This can make a lot of difference. It can be your WI-FI connection.

It hasn't worked in forever. Even when I could watch them they would stop-start-stop-start.

There are numerous reasons that could cause this, which makes it difficult to offer solid advice. It could be due to a browser issue, which could be checked by updating to the latest version. There could also be a missing plug in or browser extension that is required for YouTube videos. YouTube videos also depend on javascript, so you should ensure that this is enabled. It will not be a speed issue because YouTube videos are encoded as flv files and as such are extremely small.

@LadyDuck Apart from occasional search on the site I rarely play any videos on YouTube myself. If I come across a worthwhile video I tend to download it and store it instead.

@AbbyGreenhill If you are using Chrome then you can check whether the issue is caused by a plug in or extensive issue by running in Incognito Mode. You can open a window in incognito mode using Ctrl+Shift+N and try playing the video via that window.

I think that you have listed all the possible issues, I cannot think at anything different.

I hope that someone will be able to resolve your problem. There are certainly many Lotters who are very competent where techy problems are concerned.

As tech illiterate as I am, I would have suggested to clear your history. That would have been the extent of my ability to help. Glad it works now.

Well, I do clear my history quite frequently but that wouldn't have an impact on the problem - which is now fixed.

Before I learned to keep my browser cache clean I had buffering issues. I also changed to Chrome and that helped alot too.

Thanks for the update! Now you can enjoy watching you tube videos and making comments on them. Do you now have a you tube channel? I will subscribe if you already have one.

@AbbyGreenhill @Asylum seems to have covered every thing. While I was using Firefox, this problem kept happening. The Adobe flash player was out of date and needed to be updated.I do not think it is a problem with Java script.A plug in missing or the flash player,(which is an extension) needs to be updated.Best of luck.

@AbbyGreenhill Maybe you need to ask a computer expert. Have you heard of "The Geek Squad". I am pretty sure I have that name correct. My Mom, is a member of it. She pays a monthly fee to be a part of it. Anytime, she has a computer problem, she calls them and they will remotely work of her computer to help solve a problem.

Could it be your internet connection? I'm not a tech-savvy person but that would be my only guess. I have a poor internet connection and I get the "buffering" thing all the time also.

Is it fixed now? You could check your internet connection or your browser. These may cause you not to be able to watch on youTube. You may want to try other browsers.
