What are the cooking oils at your home?

At my home there are several cooking oils. My mom cooks with either peanut or corn oil. But I think mainly she uses peanut oil as it smells better. I will use the olive oil to make pizza. And when I cook steak, I will use the butter. In the past my sister-in-law gave me the grape oil but I didn't find the difference between it and other oils.

I prefer to add the oil after the cooking as then I don't destroy the nutritive value.

It depends on what you want to cook, oils with high smoke point is good for deep frying so it becomes like restaurant food especially when cookin oil with pressure, olive oil we usually use for healthy foods like salad, low smoke point like butter and margarine to saute like garlic for lemon butter sauce
Choice of oil depends on what you want to cook ( health risks not taken to account)

In India people mainly use 3 types of food oil depending on their requirement. It is either groundnut or soya bean or sunflower oil. In some states like Bihar, they use mustard oil for deep frying. Sesame oil is used in certain places. The rich class uses olive oil which is costliest of all. Nowadays due to its lighter density rice brawn oil is also used extensively.
As far as my own house is concerned, we have mainly used groundnut oil and sesame oil for cooking food.
I would like to deep fry vegetables or give a tadka in Ghee.

I try not to use oil at all. If I fry things, I tend to dry fry them or, occasionally, use 'Frylight' which comes in different styles and is sprayed so you just coat the pan. I used to use vegetable oil because I was under the impression that it was better than other things and I don't like olive oil. According to some sources, no fats and oils are better than any other anyway.
I don't mind a little bit of oil just to coat the pan but I don't like it when, as some restaurants do, the food is swimming in it.

Depends on what we are cooking. We have vegetable oil for heavier cooking and olive oil for sauteeing and such.

I like olive oil number one. I am wanting to get some coconut oil to use though it is too expensive here. I also love peanut oil tho I have none.

I use olive oil for pastas, garlic bread and salad dressing. Otherwise it's sunflower oil. But a lot of our Chinese dishes here contain pork lard.

It can be good to do some research, what oils can be heated without destroying them. Or one can just use water and add.the healthy oils just before eating the food.

We used to use coconut oil, once we found out its bad for the health we change to olive oil. Olive oil has no trans fat so its healthy.
