My laminate flooring has prompted a minor spending spree

I suppose that this was inevitable really, Now that I have two new looking and attractive rooms, I have been contemplating replacing older items as I refill the rooms. Today was my first purchase, which is a 6 socket surge protected extension lead with two USB chargers integrated. I currently had two smart 10 socket towers, one for the living room and one for the office upstairs. I did have an old white extension in use upstairs, which is looking rather out of place now. Now I can use both original towers as a matching pair, spaced at either end of my computer desk, with the new block in use in my living room. My next consideration will be a few new small tables which match the flooring, plus whatever comes to mind in the process.

sounds like fun, sprucing things up to match the new floors.

@Jessicalynnt That sounds a little extreme even for me.

Now that I have a rich dark floor, light coloured tables look out of place.

It should not amount to a great deal, so it is worthwhile.

Of course, when you upgrade in one area, you know you will need to upgrade other items. Can't wait to see the finished room, I am sure it will be wonderful.

Our computer geek recommends replacing surge protectors ever two years. Ever surge it protects you from degrades is suppressive ability a little bit more.

@Asylum my feeling is. $20. For a surge protector. $4,000. In electronics. Hmmm, that sounds like a no brainer. We've had to replace a computer, and a TV because of a power surge. The warranty on a surge protector... 2 years.

@MarshaMusselman Hello! Yeah, I was a lot less active on here the past few weeks although I still tried to log in every day even if only reading around for a short while. But now I'm slowly coming back to my regular pace, or I'm trying to at least. Good to see you here!

I was just thinking about you, Sishy, as I'd not seen you about in a while. I saw some sushi dishes on the suggested post listing on the right and was going to look you up. Now you've saved me the trouble.

Will you be sharing a picture of your new flooring in your rooms? Did you put the same flooring in both rooms, I don't remember if you said that earlier or not. If you have the money to spend, might as well improve the look and utility of the room. I'd have to watch and not get carried away with the spending. I need a new towel bar in my bathroom, or what I really need is a new screw to hold up the end of the current one, but I'm thinking a new one that holds two towels might be nice, if not too expensive. It may take a few months to get it though until we get caught up with things.

You will have to take care to buy a towel rail that matches the room, otherwise you may end up decorating.

@Asylum My light fixture is white plastic, but heavy duty and my window sill is wood. It already doesn't match perfectly. I began painting the walls over eight years ago and never completed the job. Anything new will look good or better I imagine. I replaced a blue carpet with linoleum before I began painting the room and it could be replaced again. We need a newer sink, vanity and tub. I'm not too worried about the style of the towel bar, but I may have to put that off and just get a new screw for the one side to stay on and put the old bar back up for now. Maybe one day we can manage replacing everything in the room.

Send a pic of things when you get it all fixed up. Tables that match the flooring would be pretty easy. Take a pic of the room and take it with you to the furniture store. Or show them a pic from your cell phone.

@Asylum I can understand that although it seems in this day and age so many people mix everything. Some that I have seen was not so bad but there are some that looks like they went to a garage sale to get all their merchandise.

I've heard of this sort of thing a few times My sister good her floors sanded and varnished/waxed and ended up getting a new three piece suite as the old one looked shabby with the new floor. I used to buy a new motorbike every year and always bought a new helmet a month or so after even though I tried to stop myself
