I love Phlox. It's such a pretty delicate flower. But looks can be deceiving. One year my sister in law was visiting from Oregon. She had brought us a small container of creeping Phlox in a deep pink color. They were alive when she gave them to us. My husband and I both forgot about them and a few weeks later we remembered them but they looked dead. He decided to plant them anyway just to see if they could recover. And they did. We now have a fairly big patch of them. I was impressed. So the hunt was on for more.
We found some a couple of years later and planted them. They are now doing very well and the patch of them get bigger every year. We bought a pretty purple color. So if you are looking for a flower that just keeps on giving this is the one for you. They come back every year and they spread pretty good

Most guys are like that Dianne lol. My hubby got his love of flowers from his dad. His dad spent hours in the flower beds when he was alive.

@fishtiger58 We are always amazed that they come back every year. Because just before they green up we'll go and inspect them, and there is always patches of them missing, and we find a lot of rabbit droppings in that area. The bunnies will eat them in the late winter months. But those flowers are so hardy and strong. I need to thin mine out again.

@Juliaacv For as delicate as the flower is the plant is amazingly strong. No matter how bad they look they always come back.

Anything that blooms is a good thing. I especially love the ones that come back year after year.

@fishtiger58 I think that might be what happened with the white flowers blooming at the moment.

That's a lovely vision. You can control the patch if the Phlox gets out of hand.

My husband does trim it down from time to time when they want to overcrowd other flowers. Thanks glad you like my flowers.

I live in a small apartment. If I have to grow anything, it has to be on common terrace. There are birds that would do anything to prevent plants surviving. I tried. lol. It is a bit of s struggle. But some day I will have a home of my own, yard of my own and I will have plants too, plenty of them. :)

What color did she have. They are so pretty especially right at dusk, then they seem to glow.

@LadyDuck Me too, we have a huge garden center in our area. It's so large they give you a map of the place when you walk in. They have 20 small greenhouses, and like 4 big huge ones. Then they have an outdoor area as well. They also have a hot dog stand there, we always have lunch there on our shopping day as we are usually there for 4 or 5 hours it's just that big. They also always have a few new flowers we have never seen before and that's always fun.

I planted a lot of them years ago along our sloped driveway - I hope the people who own that house now didn't kill them all.

@fishtiger58 I know lots of people who can kill 'hard to kill' plants - I'm not one of them of course.

At least you can grow them in pots. Better than no flowers at all. We all need the beautiful color and scent in our lives.

Some places that I have lived people love to put these creeping phlox either to cover slopes or to border near the street. I have some plants in my yard that I am calling phlox, but they are not the creeping variety. They also are not as tall as what I thought phlox grow.

I have a taller version of Phlox too they grow tall and don't spread like the creeping variety does. I like them but not as much as the creeping variety.

I wonder if they have medicinal properties.
Many plants, including weeds, are known for certain properties, such as curing cancers or whatever.
I think scientists will do more research and see if we can get pills from such plants to get rid of headache, cancer and whatever else.

They are the perfect ground cover. We have them in our flower beds so occasionally we have to clip them back a bit or they would take over the whole bed.
