Everyone can earn the same at myLot

I see lots of discussions about earning here; and I see many people dissatisfied with what they earn, and I see many people that say they earn just fine, and I see many that don't even worry about what they earn.
Myself, I do pretty good here, and I get asked often 'What is the secret?'
The truth is, there is no 'secret', and everyone here has the same potential to earn as much as anyone else.
But it takes time, and it takes activity.
If you don't have hours to invest in active posting (discussions, responses, and comments) then you can't expect to earn much.
True, we get paid for the interaction we receive from other users, and not for what we actually do...but if you aren't doing anything, you can't receive interaction, for the most part.
Take a look at the number next to my name...that is my activity level. It increases one point every time I make some type of post here, and all these have been made since January with this account.
I am here constantly.
THAT is why I can earn $1 a day here; because I spend so much time here.
If you don't put that time and effort in, then your earnings will be considerably less.
But we shouldn't be here to earn, anyway. The earnings should simply be a side benefit to reward you for being here...they shouldn't be a reason for you to be here, and if they are, you're probably going to be dissatisfied with them.
Your earnings are directly proportional to the time and effort you expend here. If you only have an hour a day, you're not going to make $1 a day.
This is the only site I am actively on from the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed at night, with a 3-4 hour break for work at my job.
I earn well for being at myLot, but I don't rely on mylot to earn...I rely on it to pass the time...LOTS of time.
There's your secret.

More people need to realize it is only an incentive, but try as I might, I can't seem to get that point across to many of them.

I think most mylot members who have stayed here and still active share the same secret. And that secret is actually not a secret.

If they are here for the money, they need to be prepared to spend a lot of time to get it.

I agree, and I think that its great fun when you are online and interacting live with another member. That is a true discussion, and although it will make your balance grow, its very rich from a member's perspective.
I think that the recent exodus has a lot to do with my dip in earnings. But I'm still not complaining, I love it here and that is the reason that I joined.
The early morning crowd that I used to interact with has all but disappeared it seems-except for you. Not sure what's up with that.

@Juliaacv I have been away from the computer or sleeping in mostly. The other thing we used to see was that when the weather was nice everyone was out doors.

I always feel I earn just what my activity merits, and sometimes a little more. The money is not primary for me, but it is a good reason to be here along with keeping up with my friends.

I surely won't complain about what they give me, but as you and I know, being here and hanging with (old) friends is what keeps us here, not the money.

Diana, I remember you too. I think I'm going to "run into" a lot of old friends if I spend more time here. I made some great friends here back then and I really miss them. Some people I banged heads with...not so much...lol...and the feeling's probably mutual.

I hope you have never found me whining and hopefully will never find me that way.
I must say that it is more about Time and more importantly Participation. I loved your line -
I earn well for being at myLot, but I don't rely on mylot to earn...I rely on it to pass the time...LOTS of time

You did a great job of explaining how it works here. I love it here. I can't spend the day here. Life is too much fun to sit at a computer all day long. I have a business, I have friends and things to do. I just checked and I make from 3 cents a day to 30. That's fine with me, I enjoy writing and reading and I enjoy the friends I have here and would miss them if I couldn't spend a few hours here everyday.

@fishtiger58 Saw (or rather heard) them live almost a year ago...had floor seats at the very back, and had just been released from care after having a stroke...couldn't stay on my feet to watch the show, but it sounded great

I've been doing this sort on thing for about 13 years now. I have witnessed so much greed, so many mass exoduses to the latest, greatest site, from which they always return once they realise the new site sucks. And when they come back, they expect those that stayed to welcome them back with open arms, as if they never abandoned everybody for a few cents more.

I think those that have been around here the longest, with the exception of a few, realize it isn't really about the few cents...and of course, those that consider it more important appear to be those that aren't really serious in the first place.

@JolietJake - I figure if I can make enough to buy a bag of catfood or something, it was a good month. I really don't like getting involved in comparison 's about how much I've earned.
And if I really cared about how much I can make, I wouldn't be posting about a bunch of bands that only three or four people care about. It do those because it's fun for me.

I spend as much time here as I can. There are other things I need to do so I can't be here all the time. That's life. I just looked and have only earned a penny today. I have commented and gotten a lot interaction so don't know what's wrong.

I've already been here a few hours this morning off and on (mostly on) and I'll be here for several hours later. If I only spent a short amount of time here each day, I'd likely only get 20 cents or so.

Exactly. No one should be here with the expectations of paying the rent. No writing site is going to accomplish that. You come here to interact with people from different places, learn other people's opinions, indulge in writing and your own ideas and hopefully make a few cents along the way. If you are obsessed with making money, then you'll go nuts. And JJ is right, those cents aren't magically coming. You have to put some effort into this.

Yep, because time is the most important thing...without it, you won't earn much...but then again, if it's about earning, it really isn't worth it.
