Sometimes you can't win for losing.
I was photographing some of the young squirrels feeding out front that have started showing up in the last week...about half the size of the adults, and I always like watching them grow.
And then I came in here to the bedroom and started uploading photos to facebook...and out the back window, I see a third one...and he's eating my mulberries!!!
Dag nabbit, I left that tree up for me when I was cleaning the brush out, not for him!
But I didn't have the heart to chase him off...heck, he's just a baby...and I have more mulberry trees.
But still...hope he don't eat 'em all.

Where is Scar when you need him? What kind of watch cat is he?

We have a friend who would LOVE to have that squirrel . . . he hates those mulberries falling to the ground and messing up his yards (kids come over all the time and end up squishing them all over the place). They don't like to eat them either - so a squirrel who will devour them would be perfect . . . can you ask him if he's willing to relocate to Southern CA?

@JolietJake Oh yah, I forgot that you had white ones there! I've never seen a white one here - I don't think I've ever seen a white one in person at all! Maybe you can send me a couple of those
!

@JolietJake So they may have been enjoying that tree all along, but you didn't know it because of all the stuff around it earlier?

When we first moved to our current home we had a mulberry tree but the birds ate them all and pooped purple on my cars. I couldn't stand that so we cut the tree down.

Yeah, there's a tendency for that to happen, unfortunately.

Look at it this way. They help pollinate the Mulberries.

I'm already putting out 2-3 ears of corn and scattering other food out, you'd think they'd be happy with that

Awww, wadda lil cutie ..... I don't have that problem but I have to admit my mulberry trees don't produce as much as I'd like, either that or the birds are gettin all those berries. I guess it's just a bit too hot here, it's already 89 which is cooler that it was a couple days ago but still a bit too hot for the birds. They're only out in the mornings before 10am these days. We're suppose to get up to 101 by next Thursday.

The heat doesn't bother me as much as humidity does @JolietJake I'm betting you've got high humidity which makes anything over 80 muggy.

Ugh. We've been good here so far, we've hit the mid-80's once or twice, but it's mostly been in the mid-70's.

@JolietJake there is a large net for that.
you can also wrap each group of fruits in a mini net or transparent plastic.

The tree is a little too tall for that or I'd consider it

My blackberry bush flowered real nice, it's just getting ready to have berries start showing, some of my raspberries are doing real good.

I didn't know mulberries were actually edible, JJ, and by the way, I like the current avatar better than one of your most recent ones. This one makes it look as if you could have possibly invented the things stated on your profile.
I don't have any fruit trees for squirrels to enjoy, but I do have a large walnut tree. I don't really mind them eating all the nts or saving them for their winter food, but I don't like it when they leave their messes on my railing on the porch and ramp..

Ripe mulberries are delicious.
I have a huge tree at the south end of the property that's at least 50 years old or so, but it isn't producing as much as it used to.
