People will always be stupid

And ignorance will always be a part of life. Wait a minute...what is that sound I hear? Could it be thousands of Muslims decrying the horror perpetrated by terrorists fighting 'in the name of Allah'? The same people that post photos like this one on facebook are the same people posting quotes from Muhammad Ali...but they don't see how idiotic that makes them look. Sure, let's judge all Muslims, and Islam, by the act of some idiots. And then let's judge all Christians by the acts of some other Christians (like some priests, perhaps). And then screw it...let's judge ALL humanity by the acts of some humans. Sounds logical to me. People will always be stupid...and I will always shake my head at people.

I have a theory. The vast majority of people, on an individual, one-to-one basis, will treat all other people with respect and dignity no matter what their race, religion, gender or sexuality. The trouble only really begins when people start to gather in groups. That's when the stupidity quotient really seems to kick in. And these days, thanks to social media, you don't have to leave your bedroom to be part of a group!!

@paigea I come across this sort of thing often (hence my theory)! What it points to, in my opinion, is a fear of the unknown/different.

Very true. My husband will rail against Catholics due to child abuse by some priests. But treat my relatives, who are Catholic, well. He doesnt' lump them into "The Church"

I know I personally get tired of seeing this mindset. I knew people had a lot of hate from serving in the military, but I think social media takes it to a whole new level with the volume of people that make comments and show post like that day in and day out. People you would not expect it from. It is literally everywhere on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Definitely shows you why the world is the way it is. I always say Facebook is a reflection of society in general. The funny thing is seeing such hate mongering and fear mongering, people say in their next post love thy neighbor or some BS which they obviously do not believe.

@JolietJake Most people don't think through before hitting share or retweet or whatever button is necessary, they just react emotionally and move on, never realizing the speed of their hypocrisy. On a side note, I'm proud of myself for spelling hypocrisy right on the first try.

Yeah, it just boggles the mind how one moment they are screaming 'Kill them all' and the next minute 'God is love'

People are extremely judgmental, we all should take the time to consciously work on not judging others. But some people will always judge others no matter what, it's terrible.

It is not one act. Let us be fair. But let us be also fair in realizing that only fanatics are like that, and fanatics in ANY religion can be that stupid. So it is fanaticism that is wrong, not religion or folks following it.

@GardenGerty .. Actually, I have noticed trend of small small cults emerging out here...because people are disillusioned with larger religions becoming politicized and these cults are far more dangerous than the original religion...we need to fight fanaticism within the religion so that religions survive and fanaticism and cults do not surface. Check this..
Details on the Swadheen Bharat Vidhik Satyagrah aka Swadheen Bharat Subhash Sena, the outfit responsible for the violence that claimed 24 lives in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, including that of two police officials, are slowly emerging. | Revealed: The cult beh

I'm just sorry that people like Muhammad Ali has no concept of what Muslims did to black slaves-especially the men.

I'm sorry you have no concept that you are doing exactly what I mention...lumping all of a group into one thing because some of them did something

Well said. Unfortunately my husband does judge all Catholics by the actions of some priests. And all other Christians by the actions of some in the tight knit community and church where he grew up.

I've met Catholics who lie and cheat and I've met people from other religions/faiths who have also. I am catholic and proud of it.

@AbbyGreenhill Right, he shouldn't lump all Christians together when he is ranting. As I said above, he treats my Catholic family members well in reality. He treats his religious relatives well also.

Generally wrongdoers target less intelligent people. They cant think much. So they can be influenced.

The moot point is-- who are the people??. Its you and I. And we may be stupid sometime or another because of one flaw that we have and that is we are Human beings. But, to take our stupidity to such a hilt that it leads one to the act of terrorism or on a minor scale to interfere into someone's personal domain is the stupidity of grave proportions. So people may be stupid, but not always....:-)

We cannot slap a label on, and on the good side the world is filled with many wonderful people that sometimes it might outweigh the bad. Then we can just shake our head in amazement at the good.

There will always be ignorant bigotted people and while we can't change them we can refuse to perpetuate their ignorance. No group be it political, religious or whatever is all good or all bad. There are bad people of every religion, every occupation and every race but thank goodness the majority of people are good.

Sounds to me like people are sorting things out based on how they sort out their socks, or color coded everything they get their hands into. We have a saying that there's strength in number, so when stupid people gather they think that what they're saying or fighting for is gospel truth. I wonder how much prejudice and judgement has eaten their brains up? It's just a pity. We can all be classified as loons for talking about this y'know.
