The "BLOCK" button is dangerous!

So I almost blocked @JaboUK by mistake! Why? Because, I went to her page to check out her discussions. My internet lagged and I accidentally clicked on "BLOCK", as I was scrolling down! Now, I am used to seeing a sweet little notification that would asks "Are you you sure you want to BLOCK jabo?" if I have clicked on "Block" This feature exist on almost all social media sites or chat apps. But not here! Thus, she could have been blocked, and I wouldn't have known about it, if I wasn't paying attention. So ya, use "BLOCK" with caution! How's the blocking button working out for you?

Blocking sucks. I've never and will never block no matter what. I've been blocked 4 times that I know of. If you ever find yourself blocked by someone you regularly interact with it could well be a mistake. The way to sort it out is via PM with a third party who can contact them on your behalf. It'll either be resolved as a mistake or you'll be told at least that the block was on purpose.

I can't recall that I've blocked anyone here. To the best of my knowledge, I've not been blocked by anyone. Maybe I should shout louder? But I'm glad you caught what you were doing. Can't imagine anyone blocking @JaboUK.

I block only plagiarists to be able to put a link to the original post that they will not be able to remove. I hope that I have never blocked anyone else by error. I believe that this feature has no interest in a discussion site like myLot.

I'm not sure I get this. Are you saying you find a plagiarist, put a link on THEIR discussion and then block them? If so that won't work as they can just delete your response as far as I know...but I'm not entirely sure of that so you have maybe found a sneaky way round blocking.....maybe we should try an experiment

@Mike197602 There is a bug in the block feature : when you block someone, you can still respond to their discussions, but once they are blocked, they cannot see your response and cannot delete it anymore.

If you block someone who follows you, when you unblock them, they are no longer following you... So @JaboUK will need to re-follow @Drosophila... Check it out, you'll find it weirdly true. @JolietJake made me aware of this "feature" a good while ago as a tip to clearing those who follow you but who are no longer active from your Followers list.

@pgntwo @Drosophila I thought it was the other way round - Wendy will need to re-follow me. I will just check if I need to re-follow though.... Right I've just checked, and I am still following Wendy, so I was right.

@jaboUK Oh. I have just used the "block", pause, "unblock" on someone in my My Followers" list, and they are history.... And the number beside my My Followers list went down by one, after refreshing the page... But all is well with you, so that's ok :)

@pgntwo It's odd, isn't it, but I've just checked again to make sure and the following button is definitely blue, so I am still following her. It should work both ways - we should both need to re-follow. As you say, the block/unblock is the way to get rid of our followers, but it doesn't seem to have worked here. Unless there's a time lapse - I might check again later.

i got rid of my enemies here so the Block button is a huge help for me. There is a member here who made my life here hell for 3 years and I am glad he is gone in my path. he still have the ability to mention me though. I also blocked people who cant give me a conversation like those people who floods discussions with generic short comments that dont make sense. There are some people here who annoys be but I didnt block them because they were not cyber bullies and they can be fun to talk with sometimes.

I don't think there's a "blocked list" no, so the only way to find out is go to the person's page again. or when they contact you via another member. so ya, given the hassle it can cause, I'm surprised there's no "confirmation message"

Good thing you were paying attention. If not, it still would have been easy to notice since you won't be able to comment on her limericks anymore. lol

"Are you sure" or some such alert would be nice here. Sometimes accidents happen and for which one has to pay dearly. Imagine blocking @Jabo. That would have been the 'mother' of all accidents
