The 'PC' crowd...

...and no, I don't mean the people that don't use Apple products. You know, 'PC' meant something long before 'Politically Correct', and it fits just about the same. Myself? I don't worry about being 'PC'...I'd rather be upfront and honest. And if that hurts your feelings, well, blame your parents for raising a sissy. Trying to please everyone never works...it's always going to piss off someone. So why bother? THIS MESSAGE BROUGHT TO YOU BY A GUY THAT PERSONALLY DOESN'T GIVE A FLYING RAT'S ASS

I've lived with this all my life. I can tell the difference between someone who's "just sayin'" and someone who's being a jerk. At the same time, I don't purposely offend anyone - but I know it's possible that I could.

Amen to that brother. There's a difference between being offensive and speaking the truth or one's opinion. Honesty is all to often mistaken for offensive and politically incorrect because the other person simply doesn't want to hear something contrary to their thoughts and beliefs.

I get called 'rude' occasionally just because I speak what I mean...but that's okay, it saves time in conversations

@JolietJake It's rude when not using polite manners or using obscenities but most often we are called "rude" because we said something others disagree with or don't want to hear.

@JohnRoberts Huzzah someone gets it. It almost feels like the poliical hemisphere is trying to control how we communicate... Which again, I'm surprised the old white codgers running this joint would do that to their own people...

In my country a PC also means police constable - you know the guy who puts on a uniform and goes around the place trying to keep law and order. So far it seems to be working.

In prison it was slang for 'protective custody'

Offense is something I choose not to take. If someone says or does something I don't like, or don't agree with, I just laugh at them. I laugh at how wrong they obviously are. Because they are. Very, very wrong!

@JolietJake Surely to avoid the merest hint of a tiny possibility that feelings may be hurt, the term should be 'differently correct'.

Yet, I can't resist pointing out how wrong they are.

As a black man, I despise political correctness, because I prefer honesty and unlike the rest of my kin, I'm smart enough to know racism when I hear it. But my honest opinion on political correctness is merely a shield so those white folks who use it can say:"I'm not racist/sexist/homophic/xenophobic/transphobic, I swear." Because you gotta look at how these people grew up. The old codgers that enforce it grew up in a time where racial minorities and women weren't seen as equal. So they've devised political correctness to fool people into thinking that they've grown with the times when they really haven't. Because if they had, I wouldn't run into that minority who feels they have to be careful with what they say around me. "Oh, I don't wanna offend you." Which end of itself is rather racist, because they're assuming that I'm offended by racial slurs... But these idiots have enslaved their own kin of my generation into thinking that "soft language" is how to treat people like me as equals when it's not... And here's where I show my ignorance, as I didn't think white people enslaved their own on any level.

Good morning, Michael. I do not go out of my way to offend people, but sometimes I do. There are some things about me that just will not change.

I agree with you, we just can't please everyone, so we shouldn't bother doing that. We need to live our life.

Politics is just as unreliable as today's weather forecast so I am going to say that I really don't give a damn if I have a choice to help myself. I cannot see myself arguing or correcting somebody about some political correctness view or views, I like to discuss something else which is never short of any political discussion.

I am politically correct to my own views. I don't care other politicians views. Here PC is more than Personal Computer than Politics.
