I Am a Cockatiel

I changed my avatar to my cockatiel, Annie. Just because I like to change it up sometimes. I took this picture the day I became her proud owner. I got Annie from a third grade teacher who was moving to China for awhile and couldn't keep her. She already felt that she wasn't giving this bird enough attention. I put an ad on Craigslist for a "used" (lol) cockatiel, and I got lucky.
Annie is so sweet and affectionate and loves to cuddle. She is well behaved and was already hand trained, so she spends a lot of her days out of the cage. She is such a perfect companion for me. A cockatiel really bonds with its owner, of course more so if they don't have a cockatiel companion. They can really live a long time. I had another cockatiel before Annie. I didn't know her age, because a friend of a friend committed suicide, and that cockatiel was in her rather large aviary. Nobody knew the ges of the birds. I had my first cockatiel, Corkiy for eleven years. She was more wild and very shy.
Anyway, so the avatar is changed and I'll probably switch it up every once in awhile. Do you l ike to stay with the same avatar or change now and then?

I was just thinking the other day that I need to change my avatar, because it's been the same ever since I've joined this site (in fact, it was my same avatar I used when I was on Bubblews before I moved over to myLot!

People probably recognize you better if you keep it. But I just like to play with them, lol.

@CinnamonGrl I think that's the reason I've never changed it...I didn't want to confuse people who have become so used to seeing the same avatar all this time.

Well I changed mine complete with a post why I did it. You did tell me about you changing yours once in a while, so I recognized you.
I like your avatar. Glad you are enjoying her company.

I do like to change my avatar from time to time. It is a pleasure to meet Annie since I have been party to her antics through facebook for a while.

Her antics right now are just sitting on her lifeless eggs.

I should change mine as it's years old here.
It was taken one evening when I was living with a boyfriend, and I'm in my housecoat. Steve and I have been married 5 years and back together at least 2 years before we got married, so yeah, it's an old one.

I never think to change my avatar. The one I have pretty much describes me--though I guess I could change it to something else.

I really don't know much about birds but your cockatiel looks like she would be a fun pet to have. As for my avatar I haven't changed it as I think most people associate it with me. I'd be afraid that if I changed it to my profile picture most people wouldn't know it was me

I had two cockatiels years ago. Both were raised as babies from my ex-mother-in-laws birds. They were tame and loved to ride on my shoulders around the house. One had wing issues from the get go and couldn't fly much. It was funny to see her try to fly and land behind something and hear her only learned word, "sh**." I named her Baby. The other I thought was a boy until later and found she was a girl. I named her Anthony Brock at first and later called her Country Jo HeShe.

Yup, I know. And I love kitties, too. I'm living with my mother and she and my dad didn't want to get attached to any more cats or dogs. I'm sure I will have a cat again someday.
