Sometimes I ACT like I am going to catch him to watch him run up the tree in fear. And then I laugh. Because he is a squirrel. And I am a Cat.

Obviously. He's yours if you want him. Anytime. Much smarter of you to relax and let the squirrel go. Squirrels are too tough to make a good meal anyway.

It's lucky you don't particularly want to. You'd have a mouthful of fur; he probably smells and he might have fleas. Best just to watch him. After all, you know you could get him if you really wanted to.

Thank you for sharing the picture of the cat and the squirrel. It looks funny with them both inside the picture. The cat seems to be watching and enjoying what the squirrel is doing in the short distance before him. It might wonder what creature it is, so tiny a creature with a long furry tail. LOL

@JolietJake Thank you for the picture. It seems that the squirrel is not alert of the cat near it. Maybe it feels nice and comfortable with the cat there as its viewer. LOL

Cats can sneak attack a squirrel and I bet a squirrel don't see it coming. Of course you can get that squirrel you are fast after all.

At least it's a squirrel and not a woodchuck. My car sauntered up close to one last week. I had to scare it off before anything could happen.

I used to have a lazy tomcat named Jerry. Once we had a little field mouse running around our house. Jerry just lay there, the mouse went running right past his nose and Jerry's paw slowly went out, he missed the mouse, slowly retracted paw and went back to sleep.
