Tried a locked room adventure, failed, that was hard!

We figured we'd do something local tonight and tried a locked room adventure. You get an hour to figure out a bunch of clues and escape a locked room. We had 6 of the 8 locks done and were close to getting the seventh when we ran out of time. It was HARD, like super hard. Turns out that room has a 90 odd percent fail rate, like few people have solved everything in there, in time. We did not make it.
When we have the money we will go back, and try and easier room cause, yikes that was HAAAARD!

There s a show on cable called "Elevator" that is like that. I noticed it is coming back in October. Can't recall what station. Is it expensive?

@Jessicalynnt .....Sounds like it was. Sometimes you don't have to win to have fun.

My friends and I also played that before. The first time we tried it, we failed but the second time in a different room, we were able to get out. It was fun though and very fulfilling that we were able to exercise our brains at the same time.

@Jessicalynnt sounds like what I would want too - there is an episode of The Big Bang Theory where the gang try a locked room mystery and being nerds they solve it all too quickly and go home disappointed

I would suggest you give it a try, Giorgio! (Hmmm... my pc just told me I haven't spoken to you before. Hello! It is my pleasure to meet you here on myLot!)
I've never actually done that type of thing before, but I have read several "locked room adventures" and thought they sounded like a lot of fun!
The most memorable one I've read was about several people being invited to an island for dinner and a "show". They never got to the show because their host was killed in the middle of a power outage while everyone sat around the dining room table eating. The people who were there had to solve the puzzle before they left the island the next morning or the murderer could have escaped...
Quite exciting to read and probably at least as exciting to be involved in the adventure! (Well, as long as you were not the one murdered, at least! LOL!)
If you do have the adventure, I hope you thoroughly enjoy yourselves! You really must let us know about it if you do it, too!

Okay, so it was difficult, Jess... Since you also said you and your husband are planning to go back and try another locked room adventure... That suggests that even though you found it too difficult to win the adventure, you both did have a lot of fun trying to solve the puzzles, right?
Intellectual endeavors can often be challenging... sometimes too challenging... but most of the time, even if we don't succeed, we still find ourselves having the best time in the cooperative effort! That makes the whole ordeal more than worth the time, effort and cost!

@Jessicalynnt Working your way back up to trying that one later is probably what I would do, too. Usually, but not always, there are clues to help you solve the really hard ones in the easier ones. I think you may have started at the wrong end of the spectrum with those puzzles... (I could be wrong, too, but that is how the locked room puzzles were supposed to be done in the books I read about them.)
Better luck next time, hon!

@DaddyEvil oh we did, but we didnt know it, we went for one with less people in it, not realizing it was hard. they needed to rate those on the website as of average difficulty level or something

a book with numbers highlighted, pins on a corkboard, a scrabble board, some written clues, but those were in the boxes, so you had to figure out the book with the highlighted numbers first
