6 months later, suddenly 12 new responses

I'm not sure what just happened. Now, I am not complaining a bit...I'm just curious as to why an old discussion suddenly seemed to come back to life. AHA!!! I just looked at the "Hot" list, and it is back in it again...but I am still not sure what provoked all the responses to bring it back to life. And let's make that 14 new responses, just picked up two more. But I don't think I have ever had an old discussion suddenly pop back up like that...strange...

Sometimes it is brought up from the 'You Might Also Like' list on the right...

I take that back... Are you talking about your "How I made $2.9974..."? That doesn't have tags which would be needed to show up on 'YMAL' list.. So IDK... maybe someone brought it up from your discussion list since it had over 100 responses, and it's about earning so once it's back in the 'Hot' list others saw it and more responded...

Maybe I should un-tag it

that discussion was suggested to me ...the first discussion i have ever been suggested to read...and it was informative...maybe someone was looking for advice and thought of breathing life into it.

It happened a few times on the old site but not on this one. Obviously the suggestions were taken up by the people that received them

Now that's wild...this one got to the first position on 'Top rated'...didn't even intend for that to happen, but then again, that's how it normally happens for me

I am always surprised when a topic resuscitates from its ashes.

From what a few people have said, someone sent it as a 'suggestion' to several people

How odd. I know I see old discussions over to the right of me on the Mylot screen. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Maybe people are going by recent activity and the original commenter sparked interest in the post. It is rare for anyone to respond to old posts.

I had to make 16 comments, I'd missed a few responses back in March

@JolietJake Shame on you. You are fired from responding to your own posts. Trump would be so proud of me.

@crossbones27 You should always try to respond to everyone who commented on your post. That is how you keep it going. There is no shame in that.

I'm all for the suggestion button being put back so we can bring our older discussions back to the surface. Can we like get a petition going or something?

@JolietJake How do you get to circulate our discussions?

@Butchcass4 The only way to circulate your own older discussions is by PM'ing the link to people, or asking a friend to suggest it to their followers

The suggest button was never meant for suggesting our own posts.

Most likely, you got new followers and they browsed your page looking for a post that is so interesting . . .

Yes, this is a serious post. I did indeed make that in one day here. (Well, not ME me...PhredWreck/ForeverTheLamb did) And I didn't post 20 discussions to do...

I just came back online and haven't gone through all my latest notifications yet, but it appears someone suggested the post to their followers, which is cool, but I don't know who it was yet that suggested it. I owe them a 'Thank you'

I haven't been around for a while and started commenting on some of those posts on the side and then realized they were old. Maybe it's my fault!

I have one post with no responses. If in 6 months time I get some new responses I will be a happy Saul. Maybe getting one new response bumped the post into the public eye again and a lot of people could see what an interesting lost it is. Probably well wrong about that as I was only speculating. So well done indeed on getting so many new responses to a 6 month old post.

It cud be that the topic is still of relevance that it just draws the crowd back. You know how it's like, I am sure.

I'm not totally sure how the 'Suggestions' thing works but that one was sent to me as a Suggestion today.

@JolietJake Thank you for clarifying that. This is obviously what's led to that discussion's bump/spike today after being suggested by a member with over 160 followers. I'm glad they did - it was well worth reading.

Isn't it great when something like that happens? It happened to me last week and left me scratching my head and wondering how it happened.
