Tried and Failed

A couple months ago I got rid of Macafee on my computer. Only to find it still annoying me when I least expect it. It seems Macafee has merged with Intel so there's no way I can get rid of it no matter how hard I try. Every so often, more than I like, I will get a message that says the site I'm on - yes, myLot - is at risk. We all know this site is not a risk factor. Neither are the other sites I use that also show warnings. I really wish I could get rid of this annoyance. Any thoughts on how I can make that happen, especially since it's now connected to Intel? @DaddyEvil any thoughts on what I can do? I would really appreciate it. Thanks for reading.

I've been getting those notices on Safari and Firefox, and I don't even use Macafee. I have no idea how to get rid of that either.

I quit using McAfee years ago, because it was horrible and annoying. I use AVG now, and have never had any issues with it.

I did not like McAfee either. I had a paid version and it kept freezing my computer. It would not let me do anything. I finally uninstalled even though I had several paid up months to go . I installed one of the free antiviruses. It was so much better.

@sugartoes I am using Avira. Before that, I used Avast. When I got this computer, my son loaded Avira on to it. It is working out well.

@akalinus I always ask for recommendations from our I.T. guys at work. They have some good recommendations for paid ones, but they say for most people the free ones work just as well. That's good enough for me!

I had big problems with McAfee and it took ages to remove it from my old computer. Since then I've moved to another anti-virus. so far, so good

McAfee was a great product when it was launched years ago and it became a real pain when it merged with Intel. Follow those steps to fully uninstall it.

I hate that kind of stuff. Perhaps they're trying to get you to buy more product. Beyond that, I'm clueless.
