Paid to poop?

To ease a bit of stress, got hold of this red beauty!

Gosh! First of all, my apologies to those of you who are having snacks or meals while reading posts (now mine), if you find this gross or disturbing. Just got hold of a popular reading material (after months of not leafing any of its pages due to my vision problems). And, of all short write-ups I read was about a country where people are paid to poop. Is this really happening?

I think you read about the medical facility in Massachusetts, the only independent nonprofit stool bank in the country. They collects, tests, and provides fecal samples to 122 hospitals in 33 states for one of the most interesting medical treatment innovations today: fecal microbiota transplantation.

Dear @vandana7 . I've read the article already. I don't know if this is true or the writer is just giving us something to lighten the burden of the day's concerns. But, he wrote, it happens in India. This is his intro of the article: "Woohoo! I’ve just read about my dream job. Smart officials in India are paying people to go to the toilet. The cash-for-deposits scheme in Tamil Nadu creates a useful supply of fresh fertilizer while gently training residents to stop pooping in unsuitable places, like your neighbour’s patio, the queue at McDonald’s, the hospital lobby, etc. "

@KnehKnah Hello, KnehKnah! You had nothing to do with getting me into this stinky topic! That was entirely vanny's doing! She called me here! (I just wanted to acknowledge your discussion and couldn't think of anything witty to say to you! I don't like to be rude and talk on someone's discussion without talking to them about it first.) It isn't your fault if vanny likes to pull her friends into discussions where we feel the need for a shower when we get there, a full on soak bath half way through the discussion and a thorough decontamination by the final ending of the discussion! LOL! I was pleased I could help you by finding the link to the article from the Reader's Digest that you read first, though!

Not a totally new concept... I direct you and @vandana7 to the fictional planet of Bethselamin, in the much-referenced book "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", by Douglas Adams
For years, the fabulously beautiful planet of Bethselamin increased its booming tourist industry without any worries at all. Alas, as is often the case, this was an act of utter stupidity, as it led to a colossal cumulative erosion problem. Of course, what

Yes, my dear @pgntwo . But, my grandfather had a similar story. One night, while we were looking at the moon, he said: The earth is full of people. There is famine everywhere. So, the government (he did not say which) conducted a study & found that it is possible to live in planet Mars as it is just like our planet earth. The 1st batch of people got ready to fly to Mars. Zoom they flew! The trip was smooth. As the group arrived in the planet, they began to roam. They were so happy to be the 1st group of earth people there. But, lo & behold! A pile of poop, still warm (as one touched it), met them!

I haven't read the article. I don't know if I can mention it here, my friend, but the note said it happens in Bangladesh. Edit: the article (which I've searched thru the net, just a while ago), said it happens in India.

I read an article about people getting paid for their poop, but they have to eat in a specific way, their feces must be healthy because their poop will be used for those who have digesting problems (poop transplant). I also saw a documentary, I think on Vice (Youtube), which explained where poop goes when you flush the toilet (in the US). Some companies buy the poop and turn it into compost. And of course if you grow plants you go buy compost, so they earn money from our poop. And they don't give us any! Another documentary showed a South Korean doctor who buys child's poop and uses it for medical purposes.

I never heard this before but if we think about it, this could be a good idea as we all have to "poop". Imagine making money on something that comes, (or goes), naturally.
