Firstly, thank you all for your support and kind words re my completion of the second, and hopefully, final draft of my book. Yes, it has been a long journey, but most rewarding. Quite a few people have asked, what next? Those of you who have come to know me well over the years know I won't be content with not setting myself a challenge. In fact, my personal motto is, 'I'd rather wear out than rust out'. So yes, there is a next project in the pipeline. First of all, before 1 May next year I have committed to writing a 4000 word article about the baths for the local journal of history, due to be submitted by 1 May. After that I'll be pursuing another research topic that appeals to me, to be completed by 1 May 2018. So, there's plenty of fun ahead to keep me out of mischief. Meanwhile, the next couple of weeks will find me simply chilling out, enjoying the New Zealand summer and time with family and friends.

The journal only comes out once a year, quite an impresive publication, so I need to get it right

You are very committed to your writing and that is admirable. I don't have what it takes at this point to write a book, articles are about as much writing as I want to do though I did 16 this month which at in excess of 500 words each us quite a lot!! Enjoy your summer Christmas lol

I love your statement "rather ware out than rust out" Well I am also one that has a new project in view before the old one is done. I cannot abide with idleness. Some days its my HAPPY and other days its my VICE. All the best

Ha, ha, I'll go and fix that. People have been asking me for ages what next, and I really didn't know till yesterday. They say the right project presents itself at the right time!

@valmnz Chilling on that bench would be very acceptable. Here's a picture of my favourite bench in Donegal.

Who has commissioned the 4000 word article about baths? Maybe I'm in the wrong profession. How much does it pay?

It pays nothing as far as I know! All for the love of local history. The editor of the local Journal of history approached me after a recent presentation I gave at local history week. It seems I am now considered the local expert on early swimming in our city.
