It Is Nice to be Appreciated

There are lots of aides and paras and other support people at our school. The special ed teachers got together today to show appreciation for the special ed paras, by watching our kids and providing a really nice breakfast. There were so many choices, like cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos. We were served homemade cocoa, or coffee. Fresh fruit was available and apple cider. There was sausage gravy and biscuits. Not only that, but at the end of the day the speech teacher offered me some more of the breakfast burritos. Hubby and I had those along with a nice salad for supper. I appreciate the way they treat us and I was very glad to enjoy the meal.

@GardenGerty I would hope that others do things like that as well, but I have no idea.

You deserve how they treat you. I thank my grandson's teachers and helpers every chance I get. I don't think it is ever too much either.

That is good of you. Someone was saying the other day that in the past Special Ed. teachers were actually told, by a parent, that they are not "real" teachers. Great families that support our special needs kids sure help. You are probably one of the best influences in his life.

@GardenGerty ........Not "Real" teachers. What a hoot! Yes, family is best but teachers are so important.

That was such a nice gesture by the teachers! They had an employee appreciation lunch at work. Everyone was invited to join in. Unfortunately for we PCA's and LNA's it is nearly impossible for us to go to the office as we are out in the field all day.

Someone should bring you a plate. I know, it will not happen. I also know you do your job because you love and care for your clients.

@GardenGerty the office in Rutland delivers a plate to those that can't make it. I don't expect that to happen. I am not one to eat in front of people, so I would share if they did bring a plate.

I love making food to show I care and I love consuming it when someone else supplies it with care. One of the pleasures almost everyone has.

@jhechorain Cooking is science and art all combined, but it does require practice. I hope you get to soon.

I agree. I need to learn how to cook better so I can give them more delicious dishes! I do like to cook but haven't had much chance to experiment.

It was. For just a few minutes we could relax, be social, and visit with our peers without feeling we are missing out on our duties. The food made excellent "fuel" too.

That is what they call being treated like royalty. The mention of all that food got me so hungry.

Yes, it was so good. I loved the fresh fruit. The speech clinician had made the breakfast burritos and she sent some home with me, we had supper from it.

It does. There are people who will tell you that they would not take this job. People who stick it out usually are pretty dedicated to doing right by the kids.
