~Fire Department Was Here~

What a way to start the New Year! The power starting flickering real bad, then sparks followed it amd finally there was smoke coming from the TV in our bedroom. We called the fire department to check it out and make sure it was safe to be here. They said if it was their family they would get out but it was our choice. Wow. Right now we're sleeping in our van for tonight and we will figure things out tomorrow... It's smokey in the house and the baby was coughing so we couldn't stay in there regardless. I hope your evening is better than ours!! Please pray for us y'all. This is not how we expected to start our year off!

Oh no! If the firefighters recommend not being the house - I would not too. That is a very scary situation, I hope you all are safe! Prayers to you and your family!

@LovingMyBabies Stay warm in the van too! Bring lots of blankets! Did Aunt Mary end up staying inside?

@infatuatedbby Thank God it's a warmer night so we are warm. Yeah she stayed inside which was her own choice.

I think that you made the right decision. It sounds like you my have had a power surge which must have affected your television. Thank goodness you are all safe, the year will get better.

@Juliaacv Yeah it's a power surge going through the whole house. Now we only have power in the living room. All the rest of the house blew. Thank God we are safe.

@LovingMyBabies Oh thankfully you all got out. I hope that it isn't too long before your new place is ready. Did you lose anything that was plugged in as a result of the surge?

I think of New Year's Eve fireworks . . . but I know that's not what the sparks were! Oh my goodness - I wonder what caused that! I hope you're all safe in that van . . . my goodness now I hope you can get to your new house sooner than later!!

Wait was it just from the television? How bad did whatever it was spread? I hope you opened some windows as well.

@Scribbledadnauseum It's power surges going through the house. Now we only have power in the living room. The fire department said its a matter of time until the rest of the house catches fire.

So, so sorry to read this. Not a good way to start the year for sure. Can the owner of the future house let you move in now?

@marlina Thank you. It's been one thing after another. There's no water at the new house to shower or anything so I don't know what we're going to do at this point. =( The only room here with power is the living room. Our fridge and freezer food is all going to go bad too.

@marlina We have a friend that is helping us, thank God. Right now we are at her house and we have been most of the day. Just staying safe and trying to figure things out for now.

What a horrible thing to happen and on the first day of the year too! At least you were awake and realised what was happening and the danger that you were all in. Hope you get sorted and a roof over your heads real soon!

I'm really sorry to hear about this. It's not exactly how you want to start the new year. It's probably best that you stay in your car for the moment. Hopefully, you're able to figure something out.

Isn't the owner of this house helping out with this? It is his responsability, isn't it?

@marlina The landlord didn't seem to care at all actually. It's not his place, it's his sister in law's. He just manages the property and she lives in another state.
