Why my life has meaning right now

Actually, my life has meaning for several reasons. One of my afternoon kid clients got a guitar for Christmas, so I'll be able to teach him some guitar. I'm going to see him tomorrow, even though it will be Saturday.
And my expressive aphasiac 2 1/2-year-old in Berkeley is close to talking--I'm convinced of it. He wasn't at "school" (preschool) today, but I'm hoping to see him next Tuesday and next Friday. He's (to quote my late Grandma) "adorable."
But this post is about my latest woodworking project--a simple walnut case for an expensive McIntosh amplifier from the 1960s. I just got done pressing two sides together by stacking a 15 lb speaker on top of the receiver case after putting wood glue in the gap.
Now, I'm ready for final sanding and oiling. It seems silly (or it might to some), but having a project going makes me look forward to waking up every morning. What is giving your life meaning these days?

@TheHorse It was 2 degrees when I got up this morning, the lakes and ponds are freezing up pretty good. My hubby is happy he wants to go ice fishing. Way to cold today for me to join him.

@marguicha It is such a gift when an older person still "has their marbles." They're like any other friend, except with more wisdom, and you have to help them move their tired bodies around.

God gives my life meaning. I'd prefer waking up to a warmer day outside, but alas, I don't think I'm going to get that wish for a few more months yet.
What do you mean by kid clients, and who is the 2 and a half year old boy that you're convinced may talk soon? Is he related to you in some way?

@MarshaMusselman Cool. It's strange, given that I'm not a member of any particular religion, but I feel the presence of God in the room with me sometimes when I work one on one with a kid. I think it's the one time in my life I KNOW I'm doing the "right thing."

These are kids I've referred to in previous posts. Let me see if I can find a link.
I think I enjoy my #3 job even more than my #1 and #2 jobs. I basically get paid to play with some delightful 2 1/2- through 5-year-olds at my friend's...

My children and my grandchildren. The excitement of a new baby arriving in August and my daughter getting married in the fall. My family is my everything.

What wakes me up in the morning is my never ending to do list. Tomorrow I have to drive one kid to drumline practice, then another to a basketball game, then my daughter has a winterguard show. If it weren't for all of that I'd stay in bed all day!

That is one of the Big Questions, I think. My wife and my daughter certainly give meaning to my life. My writing, here and more serious efforts as well, feeding the many birds that frequent my yard in all kinds of weather (including the freezing rain and snow today) and even that part-time job I took on a whim a year and a half ago where I have met many nice people, including co-workers.

@TheHorse The one shown looks lovely. I might be PMing for advice if we get a bit stuck. We want a sort of double 'floor' with holes cut in the top layer to hold the coins. We need nice 'stuff' (velvet, velour, felt) stuck on the bottom layer for the coins to sit on. These three layers - floor, felt and top layer - need to be glued together but the lid has to fit down nicely too. Hard to explain just in words. But I'm keeping you in mind. :)

That's great on all levels. I'm so glad he's close to talking. I'm also glad you have another project that makes waking up worthwhile.
For me it's my writing. I'll be getting some work done on it today. Maybe even both manuscripts. For me the long drought is over and my words are back so I can look forward to finishing this manuscript I've been working on for so long.

I am the happiest when I am creative too. In my past I take small projects and get them done. I made a garbage disposal box to store all the garbage bags by the roadside. I made it from 2' lath and chicken wire mesh. I completed it in about four hours. We still use it today.
