Thanks Honda for the gift.. but what exactly is it for?

United States

The card reads: Thank you for being apart of the Honda family. Dear (Our name), Congratulations on celebrating one wonderful year with your Accord Sedan. We wish you many more joyful years of great adventures. A small token of our appreciation. The gift? A small white cloth with the Honda Logo at the bottom left. And on the top says Honda The Power of Dreams with a small photo of a car, motorcycle, truck, airplane, lawn mower (items Honda creates) It'd be nice if there were instructions. Is this cloth to clean the dash screen/lcd? For sunglasses? Eye glasses? Whats the use of this 'small token'?! Have you ever received a gift and had no clue what it was for?

@TheInvisibleMan At least you get practical gifts! I'd be happy with not getting a useless cloth At least a keychain or something practical!

It sounds like a cloth for polishing sunglasses or dusting your car. Not quite sure. We've received fruit baskets, chocolates, and wallets for our various dealerships. Everything is gone, including that wallet.

I have bought a car manufactured by Honda, so no idea if they offer gifts. I think the cloth given to you as a gift would be for wiping the windscreen and for their own publicity. When I bought a new car (by Hyundai) they offered me a small statue to be fixed on the dash board and perfume with the car.

@infatuatedbby - Yes, they provided the above gift for me. Presence of God is quite essential while driving in heavy traffic because many drivers around you drive like crazy.

Is this cloth enough to help with something? If it isn“t, it is yet another way of reminding you to buy another one

I received a gift from my Nissan dealer that looked like a key chain holding a token the size of your quarter. Turned out it's a trolley token - I had no idea what exactly it was for when I first opened it...

@sishy7 Ohhh, I see. I remember you mentioning that to me I believe, or another member. Well, at least the store knows they'll get their carts back. And that's one less employee pushing carts :)

My guess it that it would be used for cleaning dust off the interior dashboard areas, or maybe your mirrors. And it can also be used for cleaning glasses/sunglasses too!

It would be easy enough to find out. I'm a Subaru girl myself. Maybe they have moved up from key chains to wiping cloths.

It'd be nicer if he gift was something more valuable than a cloth lol. But I'd still appreciate the gesture. Yeah a label to define the gift would also be nice.

Why am I not surprised @infatuatedbby I have to wonder about these car manufacturers sometimes, they have over priced their cars and then pretend they're not making a huge profit.

Somehow these big companies just assume you'll know what to do with it. I'd use it as a dust rag unless it's too small to do that.

call Honda and ask them! We have a Chevy and they don't send gifts, but they do send thank you notes when you buy one, they send Christmas cards and they sent my husband a birthday card. One Chevy dealer we bought from when we first moved to TN gave us a huge container of chocolate chip cookies.

All the previous cars we bought new from Toyota/Honda, never sent us anything. I guess its a new thing for them! I think its just a cloth you can use for your sunglasses, glasses, rear mirror, dashboard, lol. That's nice they sent you chocolate chip cookies!

I once went to a dealership in Palm Springs with my uncle and was given a key chain. There was a small 2 prong fork like thing on it , I had no idea what it was for. I put it on my backpack, year or so later the piece fell and the goy who picked it up says I dropped my "divot" . Apparently it's a divot to mark where your golf ball is at on the putt. I'm not a golfer, but the guy is.

I would have not known either as I'm not a golfer! I'd take a regular key chain nothing fancy needed!
