Very unhappy with the lack of airport transfer.

The hotel at which I was staying is in Puerto de La Cruz in the North of Tenerife, but my flight was to Tenerife South Airport. It was therefore prudent to book Airport/Hotel transfer each way in order to minimise any potential issues.
I enquired at reception last night whether the transfer company had sent a pick up time for me, but apparently they had not. This morning I was up early and enquired again. This time the hotel receptionist telephoned the transfer company for confirmation but was unable to attain any answer.
Eventually I ended up walking to the local bus station and catching a regular service bus to the airport. I arrived at the last minute, but at least I managed to catch my flight home.
The bus fare was 15 euros, which is not a great deal but still annoying after I had paid for transfer in advance.

Oh that is bad as you had already paid for it. I assume you can claim for a refund?

@mysdianait That is a good point because the receptionist informed me that I could take a direct bus, so he would remember.

I suppose there's no hope of a refund or a voucher for your next visit to Tenerife?

@Asylum Surely you have some sort of receipt or proof of purchase that you can fax over. I hope you can get a good result from them. It seems as if you were "lost" in the paperwork though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Providing proof of payment does not prove that the transfer vehicle did not arrive, so I cannot really envisage any refund.

I hope you are going to contact the transfer company for an explanation of what went wrong, as well as request a refund.

@Asylum When you contact the travel agency, tell them that if they don't give you a refund or make things right with you, that you are going to send me after their virgin daughters!

Oh that sucks, can you contact them now and get a refund since they obviously didn't provide the service they contracted for? Maybe your credit card will help.

@Asylum I am sure they prefer a happy customer, so it is at least worth a try.

@LadyDuck I was referring to my visit to Prague. The transfer representative was not at the airport when I arrived, which caused me great problems finding my hotel.
Of course the return was not too bad because I was prepared and planned ahead.

That is not only annoying but also inconvenient. I am glad you caught your plane.

The worst example of a transfer to the airport was the one I encountered in Amsterdam. We had arranged with our tour guide that the Hotel shuttle would take us to the airport(inclusive) , so when we were packed and ready at 4am, we went to the Hotel desk to inquire where our driver was - Nada, nothing, naught . . . so we had to wake the world and hire a taxi - $65 for the 3 of us, and we arrived at the airport 5 min sparing for gate closure. Now I am smart and well prepared

Sorry you had to take a bus to the airport. I hope you're going to get a refund for the transport that didn't show

@Marilynda1225 The biggest concern was the expectation of missing the flight at the time.

@Asylum I expect visitors to the UK are also unhappy if they wanted to get a train lately
