Tomorrow night I will be making Chicken and Dumplings, I can't wait. It seems like forever since I have made it. I hope I have forgotten how.
My mother-in-law was the reigning queen of chicken and dumplings. She made the best around. Now that she has passed on we have to fend for ourselves.
When I was growing up my mother would make them every now and then but she made the rolled dumplings. I have always been partial to the drop dumplings, the are so nice and fluffy.
So tomorrow night we will be having a whole bunch of enjoys in out home for dinner.
I'll let you know how it all turned out.

My grandmother didn't make it often but when she did it was great. Be sure and let us know.

@celticeagle me too, they are delicious and filling. I am not sure if they are fattening. I don't think I eat them enough for that to matter.

Here we make chicken and pastry which is flat, thin stripps of flour dough, then it's dropped into chicken and broth.

That's not a food I've made. Last night I made a large lasagna....we finished the leftovers tonight and I have one in the freezer for one if those days when I simply don't feel like cooking.

@HazySue making lasagna is not difficult....it just takes a little time. I learned to make it in 1976, since then the way I make it has evolved. My family doesn't care for commercial lasagna....I've spoiled them.

@Morleyhunt that happens once the family tastes homemade. I saw a recipe somewhere, I think they called it a dump recipe, where you dump all of the ingredients in at once, for lasagna. I wondered how the pasta turned out in it, if it was starchy or what.

My grandmother made this dish quite a bit. I now make great dumplings and whenever I make a thick stew I have to top it with dumplings. Yummy comfort food.

That seems a great combination. We have dumplings with cockles.

@allknowing it seems to me that there was a song with the phrase "cockles and mussels, alive alive oh". I should have know that. Thanks.

My mom made the best chicken & dumplings too. I haven't had that in years and now that you brought back such a fond memory I might have to try my hand at making it myself.
