Apartments with luxury and then some!

While I was out doing some shopping this morning, I heard a Portland, Oregon based interview about all the luxury apartments being built there. At one called, "The Yards," you can pay $4500 per month for (I hope) very nice one bedroom. It seems that they have over built and rentals are not doing well. A month's free rent is being offered. That made me think of a new "luxury" apartment complex not far from my house. It is near Costco, so I see the signs about amenities offered there. It is called "the Tennyson," so I looked up the website. They are offering free rent for February and March. But, how about a dog park and dog wash station, a brew station, a bike repair station, racquetball courts, pool and hot tub? In the apartments, you get nine foot ceilings, hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, dishwasher, A/C, stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops. All that for "only" $1335 for a one bedroom. I lived in some crappy apartments and some nicer ones as well when I was young, but none had this kind of amenities. Have you ever lived in a "luxury" apartment?

No. That kind of life would leave me wonky cause I need to wander outside. I'm going wonky now cause the snow/ice won't let me do much more than crash toward the chicken coop and car.

@JamesHxstatic Those hens are fine. One silly hen flew out of the coop and then could not figure how to get back- she could see the others chomping away on feed but she had a hen brain fart and could not remember that she zipped out of the door opening and therefore she needed to go back through it. Hilarious until that left me trying to chase her on icy snow. She stepped into snow and just like that was up to her chest in snow before she flapped out. I managed to use the end of my cane to convince her that she did indeed need to go toward the coop and not away.

Are the chickens doing okay? We are having a lot of rain today, but it is 57 degrees.

We've stayed a night or two with friends in some very nice apartments but that's it.

@JamesHxstatic Mostly we've only been there to sleep. I often feel like spending a whole day 'in' the apartment enjoying all the fancy bits, rather than just rushing in and out to sleep.

I have never lived in an apartment. I live in a house. I think that it is a luxury house because my friends like to come here. I own it, no mortgage. Real luxury? Nah! I would not like that nor would my friends.

No, I have never lived in a "luxury" apartment, but I have lived in a very small and very expensive apartment in Monte-Carlo, we were lucky that half of the rent was paid by the client of my husband who asked him to supervise his office there.

Ohhh, Monte Carlo! That must have been interesting. Have you written about that?

@JamesHxstatic I think I wrote a discussion showing the apartment complex and the long stairs flight that went down from our road to the main Monte-Carlo road, but I did not write a lot. We lived there 27 years. I usually say "south of France", but we lived in Monte-Carlo.

I never lived in a luxury apartment with amenities but all those amenities are a good draw for those looking to rent. A few free months of no rent certainty is enticing.

Wow. $1300 per month doesn't sound too bad for a luxury apartment

I was a little surprised at that rent amount too. I hope they are well-built.

I live in a luxury apartment now and my rent used to be $908 and now it is $917.The rates change daily.I could never afford an apartment over $4000 even with a month of free rent offered.I am a low income person on food stamps.

I can't imagine paying $4500 for rent.
