Check's in the mail...

...or in the email or however they do that stuff. Heard from the Feds yesterday that my tax refund is due at my bank by the 22nd and today Illinois said the refund from there will arrive in a couple days as well. So once again I can pretend that I have money. You know, if I didn't have bills and necessities and stuff, I could be rich someday. If I could just get over buying vinyl all the time. Man...I might even buy some hamburger when I go grocery shopping now...

The last few years it has been sound equipment, I'm gonna try to keep as much of this back as I can but of course I'll buy an album or three...

Makes you wonder - they take it from you, only to give it back later. Why?

I dunno, I guess in case they have an emergency and need to call a plumber...or maybe just to keep the interest it accrues in whatever bank they keep it in...

@JolietJake With interest rates at an all-time low, well - perhaps the new President can find a use for it before he gives it back to you.

@JolietJake Here if you are working or on the pension, you recive a refund in August with your wages/pension. If you are not working in can take a really long time. In January this year I receivfed a refund from 2012. At that time I was not working and not yet receiving the pension either. What bugs me is that the amount is net and no interest is added

They are fairly quick if you do them electronically, if you file through the mail it can take a lot longer

I especially anticipate this during this part of the year when I don't get as many hours in at work.

We haven't even gone to get our papers done, but I think that things are different up here. By law all T-4 slips (which you need to have your income taxes completed) have to be in the mail by the last day of February. And there are always a few stragglers that we get into early March, the interest slips from the bank and whatnot, and the government doesn't appreciate it if we don't submit those-they think we are hiding them-imagine that!

My tax refund this year was half of what it's normally been for the past ten years. My daughter is now 17 and I can no longer claim the child tax credit on her. Just like that, I lost a thousand dollars. Thankfully, I still can claim a child tax credit on my son for another two years. After that, I'll probably owe or just break even on my taxes.

If we could live without paying taxes and utilities bills we could put away some decent money.
