He Is A Poor Sick Fella

This past Thursday my brother and I both had doctor's appointments. Mine was just a follow up with my primary care. My brother's visit was because he wasn't feeling well. My brother hasn't been feeling good in about a year. I have been nagging and begging him to go to the doctor but he didn't pay any attention to me until he started really dragging and his whole body was aching like he had the flu. I was so surprised when he came home and told me what the doctor said. He has bronchitis, pleurisy and walking pneumonia! His doctor said that he is just full of infection and has him on some heavy duty antibiotics. Being his sister, I wanted to tell him I told you so but because he was so sick, I just couldn't. He is feeling a little better today but still not his normal self. I'm sure it will take a while. Fortunately he was already off on vacation Thursday through today so he has been able to rest. There is one thing we are worried about, there was a couple of spots on his chest xray. The doctor seems to think it is scar tissue because he waited so long to be seen but he does have a follow up visit on 3/10 for another xray and more testing if needed.

I am sure the doctor is right, do not feel concerned about those couple of spots and keep an eye on your brother. He needs to rest.

@simone10 He should rest some more days, or it will take forever to get well.

He hasn't been resting much and I think it has caught up with him. I finally talked him into resting in his bed while watching TV. He was feeling really bad.

I am glad that he finally got in and got checked. Now that he got the antibiotics he can start to heal. People can be stubborn sometimes when it comes to going to the doctor. I hope all his tests will come back good on 3/10.

He is very stubborn. To top it all off, he is a diabetic and can't afford to let his health go.

@simone10 I hope this makes his realize that he needs to get checked out when he is sick. It is just not worth the risk.

Oh I am sorry to hear that. It is not good to be so negligent about our health condition but yes, this is no time to nag him about his negligence, just help him carry through.

I think he is a typical man. Most men refuse to go to the doctor when they need to.

Some people need to be active even when they're ill @simone10 then when they've gotten better they suddenly need to relax.

I hope that everything clears up quickly, just the walking pneumonia is enough to knock a person off their feet!!!

I hope that those spots are from his infections and nothing worse. Feed him lots of soup and continue with giving him your TLC and he'll recover.

The thing is, he won't listen to me. I've tried to get him to rest but he hasn't. Last night he was feeling really bad and he finally went to his room to rest and watch TV.

He is still feeling sick. I told him that maybe he needed to let the doctor but he said he wanted to wait until he had been on the medication for a week.

I hope he gets well soon and yes there are people like that who won't go to the doctors until they have to and usually by then the germs have had time to get into your body and make themselves comfortable their by making you not so comfortable.

@simone10 Vince is Type 2 diabetic but that can still be a worry if they don't take care of themselves.

Some of us are afraid to visit the doctor because of what we may hear. I hope your brother gets well soon.

I hope your brother bounces back quickly and that his next xrays come out okay. Boy he really was sick and it's a good thing he finally went to the doctor

Wow, it's a good thing his doctor followed up with tests to find all this. He should be back in the pink soon but often it takes more than oral antibiotics to fix a long term problem. They also administer them intravenously for maximum effectiveness. Keep a close eye on him.
