Having Trouble With Your Prostate?

United Kingdom

Or is it prostrate? I could be lying if I didn't know the difference. P.S This is a discussion for women as well as men. Do you use the wrong word in conversation because it sounds right? I mean, there is only one letter difference in my example, but it's crucial. I know us men have trouble with our prostate as we get older, but do you women? And do you have any other examples of similar pairs of words that can trip you up? Or is it just me.....again?

@Orson_Kart , prostate is such a worry for men . I am happy to say I have never drank so much that I ended up prostrate and yes, I had to carefully think about this. :)

I'm glad you never end up prostate, because being a gentleman I'd want to pick you up, but then I might get a reputation for going around picking up women.

I get 'bought' and 'brought' muddled. I always have to go back to 'buy' and 'bring' then work out the past tense.

In geordie speak, bought is pronounced bout. Work that one out. P.S. I love your indigenous animals.

@Orson_Kart We went to a Scottish film - and found ourselves having to read the subtitles! We thought that was pretty funny. And I love our animals too - although you might have already guessed that.

My husband has prostate cancer, yes, I do have to think about the words. Another set of words I often hear and see mixed up is Calvary and cavalry. That is just off the top of my head. Not sure what else at this moment.
