Do you have brilliant MyLot posts that nobody ever read?

Sometimes writing on MyLot can be a random walk. I can write about what I had for breakfast and get fifty comments (a lot for me), and I can write something interesting and informative and get eight comments (fewer than I usually get). I was scanning through my older posts this morning and found some really good ones that hardly anybody read (along with much drivel that everybody read). Has this happened to you? Do you have some good posts out there that nobody saw, for whatever reason? Would it be kosher to do a post about brilliant posts that you want to give a second chance? Or is that frowned upon here? If you have really good ones that deserve more attention, I'd invite you to leave a link in the comments here, but I'd better ask @GoAskAlex first. Alex, don't delete this! I'll revise it as necessary.

I know that certain subjects are guaranteed responses like food and animals while you write something of more substance and effort and it goes wanting. The lesson is to write for yourself and leave the post to fate. We all have different tastes and interests.

Yep, leave it up to the MyLot Gods. Or the randomness factor, depending on what you believe in.

I guess some of my older posts haven't captured much interest. I'm a bit more creative with titles now which always helps I think. I don't think I have any especially wonderful ones lurking at the back of the pile.

@TheHorse I'm happy if the title relates to the post somewhat.

@JudyEv Oh, mine always do. Where I'm "clever" is in my use of pictures. Sometimes you have to think for a moment about how the picture ties in with the post.

I have some posts that only got a very few responses. I have redone some posts annually but that's about it.

I don't think I've redone any here. I have some old Bubblews posts saved that I may repost at some time.

It always depends on whose logged on when you submit that discussion, sometimes all they want to read about is how you had 2 cups of coffee while other times it's something else. Face it, Mylot is moody.

You'd be surprised @TheHorse I've seen discussions with less interesting material get 30 hits.

Well, I'm having my first evening cup of coffee and considering ordering some Thai soup for dinner. How interesting that? Sigh.

@rebelann That's the truth. Sometimes I find it so hard to believe a post about (in my opinion) much of nothing gets 5,000 responses. Well, maybe not quite that many.

well I think you could, depending on the post itself, it could be a discussion, and reference and older discussion that was on the same lines and epic or something

@TheHorse the comments prob, the original post would have to have some material I would guess to be ok

Any of us could provide links in our comments, I suppose. But I want to make sure that's OK.

I wouldn't say I have any brilliant posts here but I think there should be a feature that randomly showcases some older posts.

Some older, related posts do show up on the right. Sometimes I catch an interesting one I might have missed.

I think that posts have been seen and read by more people than the likes and comments presume but they had nothing to add to it. I often read posts without leaving a trace because of that reason.

I'm seeing people reading/commenting/liking some of my older posts though, don't know whether they're really that great, just appreciate people reading/liking/commenting on my posts!

You know I have no idea. You made me interested so I will do some looking over my older posts. Perhaps it was at a time when things here were a bit slower. Who knows but do find out if we can repost some and let us know about it.

There are a few subjects I like to write about that don't interest others. But there have been a handful of posts in interesting (to most) areas that got little response.

Uhm... no, pony. Frankly, I have never thought any of my myLot posts were brilliant, but someone else might have thought so... IDK. Nobody has ever told me if they thought so. What criteria are you basing the designation "brilliant" from in regard to your own posts? (Maybe one of mine did manage to get to that category and I simply didn't realize it? IDK!) Every post I have ever written received a good turnout, so I guess I am not who you were addressing here. Sorry for saying it like that, but maybe it is the difference in who writes the post? (trying to tease and joke with you. I hope I succeeded in making you grin at me?!)

@TheHorse Well, I guess that answered everyone's question about their posts being brilliant, pony! If anyone else had a "brilliant" post, then it was plagiarized!!!

It's happened to me too @TheHorse . Most of those were done on a weekend, so by the time Monday rolled around, there were so many other posts done that nobody scrolled down to read mine.

Oh yes it does happen. Usually like you said the ones you think aren't that great get more reads than one you think is fantastic and you are excited to share, then hardly anyone reads them. I guess it's that " write a great title " thingy.
