Monday's Coming...

Monday... From Twitter

I remember saving this picture when I saw it some months ago on one of the local travel service accounts that I follow on Twitter. Using Twitter as a source of news seems to me to be the best use of that particular social network - local traffic conditions, weather warnings, school closures, breaking news, travel delays... I can get a reasonable idea of what's going on out there in my bit of the globe without having to wade through news, e-mail, TV or radio programs to glean that one nugget that could change my day. That leaves me free to focus on what I have to, or need to, do during the day, be it Monday or any other day of the week. If you use Twitter, are you a consumer or a provider?

I have a Twitter account and about once every two month I check if it is still there.

Mine was the same, until I discovered the Twitter app on one of my first smartphone devices...

@LadyDuck That was the clincher for me. I rarely access Twitter from the laptop, although there is an extensin for Chrome that I had n my previous laptop, I must seek it out again and put it on the new laptop, just to keep things aligned.

Whatever floats your boat. I tend to avoid Facebook, it reveals a lot more about you than you might care to reveal, I find.

As for revealing @pgntwo it depends on how much you share on any of them and also what your settings are. I tend to keep mine private because I have my real life friends on there and I like to keep it safe enough for us to have conversations.

Twitter: We fall in the middle! It is a good way to keep up with the local happenings if we stay away from all the other stuff. Mondays are okay with us.

I use twitter to get updates connected to work and from some famous people. I tweet about almost anything, opinions about the news and responses to my friends. I also participate in chats/discussions.

I occasionally Like something, might answer a quiz question or do a private message for info on a public tweet, that is about it. No "friends" that I chat away to or interact with, I guess myLot fills that niche.

DaddyEvil has a twitter account, but if you follow him, you will soon realize something is wrong with DE! In this particular case, DE very rarely says anything unless someone is bothering PrettyEvil on twitter. When someone says something there that upsets PE, suddenly DE becomes verbose and slightly harassing... at least, until the person bothering PE leaves her alone. LMAO! PrettyEvil told me she was "borrowing" DE for a little while several years ago. Now, if I want an account on twitter she says I will have to be someone else!

@DaddyEvil If you wish to follow up on Twitter, with your non-DE alter ego, @JedRecord is the originator (not that I know him, he is followed by someone I follow, you know how it is.).

I've not been to or used twitter in so long that I'm not sure that I realized you could glean all of that from it. Do you need to search it out or is it on your regular feed? I have need to check out a few news stations to get myself up to speed on certain events that I'm clueless on, maybe that's where I should start? Not sure, though, whether I want to read a load of small blurbs. I do have an account and have used it in the past, but not for a very long time.

I start by searching... When I have found a reliable source of info, I will then follow them. I change who I follow depending on my needs, for example: if someone in the family is flying out for a week somewhere, I will usually add the origin and destination airport Twitter accounts, the airline, and possibly a weather and news feed covering the place they will be staying. Once they are back home, that lot of follows all get un-followed... And so on. Searching for key words works best to get a feel for who to follow. I have found Instagram works similarly, if I am looking for photos of where the person will be staying, too. Good luck!

It is not immune from spoof news, some people don't think twice about repeating rumour as if it were fact, alas.

Instagram is more photo-oriented, but is searchable, similarly to Twitter. Alas not possible to search by photo though, and not everyone uses tags in the same way.
