We only do it twice a year... and tonight's the night! YAY! I have been waiting since last October for it to happen and finally the time is right! It won't be the same tomorrow... but it will be so much better... It will be light until 8 p.m. tomorrow instead of 7 p.m. like it is tonight and it will feel like spring is really here. I know in US they did it last weekend but what about you? When do you change your clocks? We will put them back an hour next 28th October so we have seven months of lighter evenings... and I love them!

Question: Why the titles of your posts are creatively and deceptively non PG-rated? Is that deliberate or is it "it happens" kind of situation?

It's a skill she's honed over years of myLotting.

@owlandbutterfly It is a nice fun. You had to read the full post to get the punch line. um... .... maybe it is deliberate since people tend to read the title and answer without looking up the complete post.

@Daljinder I'm sure it's deliberate. We've had many laughs at people who obviously didn't read the entire discussion over the years.

So I am going to have an hour of sleep stolen from me tonight. And I won't get it back until next October. On the plus-side, the evenings will be lighter longer. On the minus-side, for a couple of weeks, I'll be prone to putting on odd socks again unless I switch on the light in the bedroom when I wake up... What the right hand giveth the left hand taketh away. And the USA went forward the weekend before last, all my 2pm meetings got brought forward an hour to 1pm for the last 2 weeks - so yaaaay! I get my lunch hour back again! Ok, British Summer Time - all is forgiven.

The US went back or forward? We call it 'Legal Time' which makes the mind boggle about what it's called when we go back again in the autumn

We also change the clocks.. I did it already at least one of them, but have to change the alarm clock, so that I wake up in time for our meeting at 10.30 in our Kingdom Hall.

All of my clocks are high and I need to use a chair to reach them and, as I am afraid of falling, a friend comes and changes them for me. He did that yesterday so mine are all done too. I don't have to put the alarm tomorrow and hope I will wake up early enough to be able to go out for a walk if the weather id good.

@marguicha A perfect solution! I prefer to stay at home during the winter. I don't like the cold at all and even less as I get older.

@mysdianait I agree. Still, I cannot bear the whole winter so I take a couple of weeks of vacations in the middle of it.

I see you love it, while I hate it. This morning it was pitch-dark outside when I went out to prepare the breakfast and from tonight the kids of the neighborhood will be around later to annoy everybody. The Swiss have asked to vote to abolish it, let's see what happens.

Oh really? There seem to be many refernedums there of late. Who do you think will wion this one? Here there are no kids playing outside at any time of the day or night. They seem to have vanished off the face of the earth, probably stuck behind the screens of some techinical device

@mysdianait We already had one some years ago, the "NO change" won and that was the first time that the Swiss Government did not respect the vote of the people. If the NO change wins again they cannot ignore the will of the population.

In spring we put it forward one hour and then in autumn we go back one hour. Whether we really save any money by using less electricity is debateable though. I am not convinced that it serves any pirpose at all.

A lot. I love clockes. I have two in the lounge, a big one in the kitchen, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. Plus one on the balcony, mywristwatch and my smartphone. I panic when I don't know what time it is.

The dark evenings get me down and I have to make a plan every autumn and be positive about them. After January when they start getting lighter I cheer up but when we move the clocks forward it feels like I've won the lottery (I think as I have never ever won one )

I never do it... that's one of the perks of living in a state that (mostly) doesn't follow daylight savings time. We never have to worry about forgetting to reset our clocks for springing forward or falling back.

I don't get that. You live in the United States but it seems that everyoine does their own thing and you are not 'united' in very much at all So if someone living in the next state visits you, they have to change their time again?

@mysdianait The time thing isn't that surprising because we're such a large country and have a bunch of different time zones anyway. It really depends on where they're traveling from. Arizona is currently the same time as the Pacific time zone, so someone coming from California or other states west of us wouldn't have an issue with changing clocks. A few weeks ago we were aligned with the Mountain time zone, like the states east of us. The only part of our state that doesn't stay the same is the Navajo reservation in the northeastern corner of the state, possibly because the reservation extends into parts of New Mexico and Utah. Politically, though... yeah, there's a lot more division these days. It's really polarized.
