What's the good word on washing machines?

Or, is there a good word? We have this front loading washer and dryer that was here when we bought the house. They are on the floor, not a pedestal and we hate all that bending so far over to deal with the laundry. I have looked at a few top loading reviews and the middle range prices are high, clothing comes out tangled and sometimes needs spinning again. @RubyHawk commented that she is not happy with one she bought a few months back. So, has anyone got anything good to say about their washers and dryers?

I have/had a front loading washer and dryer by Samsung. Recently the washer broke and I had to replace it but I swore I'd never buy another Samsung again (my washer was only 7 yrs old and wasnt able to be repaired). I bought a new one at Sears (Kenmore brand) affordable and a front loader. It is a bit of a pain having to bend to do all the laundry but I do find my clothes are cleaner than with a top loader. So far my Samsung dryer is doing ok

I am very happy with my washer and dryer. I have to bend for the washer, not for the dryer because it's a top of the washer. The brand is German, we bought both 18 years ago when we bought the house and I am very happy with them.

@LadyDuck I would love one that was stacked. I would like an oven at a convenient position too.

@JamesHxstatic Yes, they take less space and it's easier to take out the dried clothes.

might be cheaper to add pedestals.

@JamesHxstatic ah, that makes a difference, you can get some more efficient ones then and stuff. I'd do some research online, and deff get that loading height issue fixed in the new ones

@Jessicalynnt None of the reviews I have read are sterling.

If we liked them and they were not 15 years old, perhaps so.

@JamesHxstatic I have heard that the side loaders eventually have issues with the seals

I have a top loading drip dry washing machine and has been there for many years. No issues absolutely. Tangling depends on how clothes are dropped there in the first instance.

Washer/dryers are so expensive now, aren't they? Feel like they are selling us a used car when we view the prices! We have front loaders stacked. They are not our first choice after having for several years. We will buy standard units when they have to be replaced.

We just bought a top loader from Sears (Kenmore) and are very happy with it. It was like $800

Before we bought the HotPoint we had a kenmore that was good for about 14 years. I wish we had bought one this time but I believe all new ones are energy and water saving that might make a difference.
