Run it up the flagpole and see if it flies

You might have heard a phrase like that or similar and most likely know the meaning. So this post isn't about the phrase but the flag and why it won't fly.
It seems the same mouse who ate holes in my husband's brand new hammock this winter also ate holes in our American flag. The little bugger climbed up on a storage cabinet and the flag pole was leaning against that cabinet. When I went to put the flag out one day I saw it had turned to Swiss cheese!
While at Lowe's Sunday we picked up a new one and I can tell you that in the fall the new new hammock and the new flag will be put in the basement, not in the pool house.
The photo is mine of the flag that has now been disposed of properly.

It means if you have an idea run it by someone and see what they think...if it 'flies' then go with it.

There could have been two, but either way they/it can no longer destroy anything.

@LadyDuck They get in the poolhouse and they get in the garage but not in the basement, so in fail from now on hammock and flags and anything they chew on will be moved...then they will be sorry.

We stopped at the VFW to ask if they had a place to drop it off and two men standing outside were standing in front of the drop box!

Darn those mice don't they know it's a disgrace to desecrate our flag?

Mice have learned now and I hope they passed on the message before they passed on!

Aren't mice something? Glad you got your new flag. We have one out front and it is a pretty sight.

They will eat anything. We have a plastic 'sweep' on the bottom of the screen door...they ate a hole in it big enough to wiggle thru.

We have just checked out our small flags. We like to put one on the motor home when we're overseas. We like to think it helps for folks to know we're tourists and where we're from. Hopefully they might cut us a bit of slack if we do something 'wrong'. Not that everyone recognises an Australia flag of course.

When my husband makes a wrong turn someplace I always say, "We out of towners!" In Tenessee we have 92 counties and each county has it's own rules, etc. including license plates so usually his wrong turns are in the next county.

@AbbyGreenhill 92 counties!! That's sounds way too many. Too many sets of rules surely!
