Cool Fruitiness

Literally. I just enjoyed a dish of partially thawed frozen fruit, topped with whipped cream. I really appreciated the combination of fruits. They were pineapple, mango, and strawberries. Possibly peaches. It is easy for us to take for granted the variety of foods we can have because of refrigerated carriers and grocery chains. I doubt my grandparents ever had a mango. On the other hand, they had wild persimmons and home grown foods of all kinds. This will be a favorite dessert for the summer, I am sure.

I surely never heard about mangoes when I was young, but my grandparents had persimmons, apricots, grapes, prunes, peaches and wild cherries in their garden.

@LadyDuck the more I talk with you the more alike we seem. These are things my grandparents had, and some nut trees as well.

What a contrast to what I have and mother had. She had to manage with little money and here I am I just spending without bothering to check my bank balance. You are right how our fridges are loaded sometimes not knowing what we have there.

I did enjoy it a lot, and it does not need added sugar, so it is quite healthy.

No one in our family has mangoes growing at the moment, but any fruit is great on the right day. It really is nice that we have the advantage of getting just about any food we want thanks to shipments of frozen foods.

Sounds really nice. When I was young some fruits were very seasonal and only available for perhaps a few months.

I remember that well myself. I think we could get bananas, apples and oranges year around but melons only in the summer.

@GardenGerty And I think they were all the more enjoyable because of their limited availability.

Hubby had never had a persimmon so when they appeared in the store we got one and allowed it to ripen, we enjoyed it a lot.
