My Perfect Job

In a discussion @CoralLevang asked me what my idea of a "Perfect Job" would be, now i did want to give that answer in a simple response, because this is something i have always thought about.
To me the perfect job would be that of a Professional Genealogy Researcher, I have often looked into this as a career, but the amount of money and schooling it takes is something i would never be able to afford.
I have been working on my own Family Genealogy for over 10 years now, i have found things out about my ancestors, and even not so distant family that no one ever knew, i know i have written allot about different family but i don't think i could ever possibly share all that i now know.
Another job i would love is to become an Author, i know there are many published authors here on myLot, and i know this job is attainable for me, i have self published Genealogy books for my family, but those we're only sold to family members. It is something i know in the future i will accomplish at some point.
Basically i would love to be paid to do things i love Researching, Writing, Reading, Watching, and Photography.
What is you're idea of the perfect job?

I like to write. And until a few years ago, I directed literary workshops and prior to that, I was a literature professor at a university in my country. All those have been jobs I have liked.

I think it would be nice to start attending more writing workshops, i know that i can write better then i sometimes do, i feel like i often am feeling rushed and do not perfect it how i would like.

@lnillerman I have often found that many people with college degrees are not always the smartest, it seems they just had alot of money.

Loving and caring for people. No one really pays you much to be nice though and that is really what that is. You could write how to books about how to do genealogy.

My perfect job is being a stay at home mom which I'm doing and love! My second job I have dreamed about before is being a child psychologist. The same as you it would take time and money I don't have.

@chrissbergstrom Yeah you do have to pay them back or you can get financial aid. I have thought about going the financial aid route but with 5 kids I really don't have the time for school too.

Good question. I don't have an entire answer. When I was a kid I thought working with animals would THE job. I got to that point and found that working with animals meant also working with humans and that thing called team work and that thing called a boss who watches you minutely to be sure you have wasted one teeny bit of anything etc. I guess I like the job I have now: I am not paid but I keep my own time clock, caring for animals, plants, food issues like baking bread after I've figured how to make that bread. I like and need to write so I do and I like when the person who says she will pay me does. I'm not sure this answers you. Funny how writing ended up being the last thing on my list and its how I view my core: writer.

I think you are a great writer, you really write about so many different things you could probably do a regular article in a newspaper that might be fun.

While reading about the ''Stories from your grandma'' I was thinking to myself that you can go forward and write a book because you know so much about your family. I guess you said you did it but maybe it is time to show your skills and those interesting stories to the world

The Genealogy Books i self published we're more about the facts and photos not as much the story side, so i would like to publish stories in the future.

Having no job at all meaning I am financially well off. The only job I ever aspired to was film critic for a newspaper but that was unobtainable.

I love genealogy too but I've never had a lot to go on but have traced both sides back to probably the 1700s but I'm still working on it. Personally, I'd love to be a teacher or therapist and be able to help people. I am not a writer, but I do like doing it to release stress. At one time I would have loved to be one but I know my limitations.

@chrissbergstrom That would be really neat. I like genealogy but I have never been able to do the kind of searching I'd really like because of the lack of information. I think eventually I might invest in one of those ancestry DNA tests.

If I could go back in time I would persue a career in the medical field. I'm retired now so thinking about careers isn't on my radar anymore. I think following a career in ancestry would be interesting for you

Yes i can understand being retired you would not think of a perfect job anymore, but it would still be nice to be paid for doing something fun like writing for example.

The perfect job always gives us pleasure. It is not necessary that one should get good salary in doing that job.
