Tuesday morning we went to the grocery store. I was quite shocked to see turkey parts - not whole turkey, but a pack of tenderloins or thighs and legs. We love turkey so I picked up a pack of tenerloins. The date was June 27th and the sell by date on the turkey was June 28th. No problem...I knew I would cook it that day. So I made sure I had cranberry sauce and sweet potatoes and I got the turkey ready for the oven. It smelled good cooking and we both were ready for 'Thanksgiving in June'. I sliced the meat and we sat down to eat. I took a bite of the turkey and spit it out. I am so glad I didn't chew! My husband said, "Oh no don't tell me....." I told him to taste it and he had the same reaction. It was vile but funny that it didn't smell bad. In the trash it went. That left us with sweet potatoes, corn, garden green beans and cranberry sauce....I can say I was a vegetarian for a day. Not filling that's for sure and more than disappointing. I will be taking the receipt to the store next shopping trip and get my money back. My husband said my face looked a little green to him! Not as bad as the face in the photo I hope! Photo from Pixabay
