THAT SCENT

The scent of a cologne can revive painful as well as pleasant memories. Painful especially if the particular cologne was the favorite of someone special in your life who turned out to be not so special after all.
My ex favored 'Aramis' - and years after our beak-up the scent of that cologne left me with a bad feeling. Years ago my favorite was 'Anais Anais' - a scent which brings back pleasant memories of when I was very young and carefree. Do you have a favorite perfume?
Talking about scents - What is your favorite scent first thing in the morning ? Could be the aroma of coffee , the smell of wood smoke in the distance, the scent of the earth after an early morning downpour of rain - or even the smell of your neighbor's sizzling breakfast bacon. What scent would give you a bright start to your day.

Perfume? None. I am extremely allergic to perfume, to the point where I have to move if someone wearing perfume is seated near me in a restaurant. People wear it as if they're masking the fact that they haven't had a bath in 43 years.
My favorite scent in the morning is vanilla caramel tea. It has such a terrific fragrance and tastes as good as it smells!

The smell of coffee brewing is my favorite aroma in the mornings. There was a girl I worked with who wore the worst perfume in the world and every time she would come near my desk I would sneeze and sneeze and all I know it was some sort of musk.

@Kandae11 No I don't think she noticed as she wore it all the time. Thankfully her desk wasn't near mine and she only had to come into my area a few times a day.

Not my favorite though but whenever I wake up at 4am, I can smell the burning garlic and the smell of the bread in the nearby bakery.

@Kandae11 the burnt garlic is unusual early in the morning. If the student from the other room wakes up early.

The smell of the lavender incense reminds me of my home. I pretty much miss them right now because I'm away from home. And here in Moscow, it's the smell of the fresh bread that makes my day. There's a bakery nearby where I'm living now. It's good.

You are so right about memories associated with perfumes. I still have the perfume my late husband gave. I use it for special family occations. My new favorite, only associated with my own personal growth, is Paloma Picasso. I also use cologne in summer (4711) to refresh me.

I do have memories of good smelling colognes.
I do have a favorite scent for me to wear.
Coffee is the only thing I wanna smell in the mornings.

Anytime I smell Old Spice cologne, im always reminded of my old high school boyfriend, cause that's what he wore. Funny how certain smells can take you back or be a trigger

I don't really have a memory for perfumes and colognes but do like the smell of some. I really like the smell of some fruits like nectarines or peaches. When I go for a walk and smell lilacs, that always gets my attention.
