Many ways of holidaying

We camped two nights in Millau (also spelt Milau) and have had interesting neighbours both nights. The first night was an Austrian couple from Innsbruck. We had quite a lot in common with them really although not as far as camping was concerned. They were sleeping in their car and the husband, a carpenter and joiner, had fitted out the areas under the seats to take their gear.
The husband had played a tuba in brass bands as had Vince and the lady’s name was Judith. She was thrilled to find another ‘Judith’. I gather ‘Judith’s are thin on the ground in Austria. They had also had couch-surfers but mainly on behalf of one of their sons.
The following night a couple walked in with their backpacks and were from Sydney. They were carrying 13 kg between them and said they loved walking in France as opposed to Australia. The main reason seemed to be that villages were close together so it was always easy to get a meal and accommodation although they only needed a spot to park their tent. And it was mostly fresh and green as opposed to brown and pretty dry in Australia.
The photo is of the bicycles owned by a young family. Dozens holiday with bikes so it seems and lots of motor-homes and caravans have a bike or two hanging off the back.

Every couple you have introduced here have a unique feature and camping is one thing common in everyone. I don't have any camping experience but I love camping and would like to go on one day. Its nice to go out with family and have fun.

@JudyEv Yes that is what we loved about camping, in hotels people are not likely to talk to you but at a B&B we have met some very interesting people.

I enjoy bike riding, so would be fun traveling to see the sites when we are staying in an area for awhile.

It's always fun to meet new people we get along with. I have never been to Australia but it seems to be a beautiful country. Of course, France is pretty nice too :))

@sishy7 I think they were Australians. We have a very faded flag taped on the back and a smaller sign with a yellow kangaroo and 'next 170 kms' printed underneath. We have a small transfer of our flag on the front window. They must have seen the signs on the back I guess.

@kobesbuddy We also free-camp from time to time so that saves a bit more as well.
