I have two questions. 1. This is our everlasting hydrangea bush. That means it produces blooms all summer. Should I cut the stalks down to the ground in the fall? 2. What do you think of people who use your discussions to create their own? I happened upon someone who actually used my wording in a post. It's not plagiarism, but should I be flattered or not?

As for Q#1 I only know one person who could actually give good advice about that, @daddyevil. But for #2 I don't really know which way to take stuff like that, either they can't think of anything original and use other peoples ideas to create one or else they really are flattering you, I think I'd go with the former. As often as some people write discussions it befuddles me that they can think of so many things to write about. I do have days when I write more than one but it is not a common occurance

I don't think its ever happened to me @DianneN but then I don't really look for anything like that so maybe I simply miss them.

Thank you for the tag, Ann! I love the blue hydrangea bushes! Pretty and I had one at the last house we lived in but I can't get them to grow here. It is something to do with the soil that kills them.

I've received some very helpful ideas. MyLot is wonderful in that way. Love my friends. As for the second one, it's fine in my book to get ideas from others, but when one sneaks onto my posts and uses words from them and my own personal sayings and discussions, then.......shame on them!

That is a gorgeous everlasting hydrangea bush, Dianne, that colour! Oh lordy I don't know, I am battling with a slight cold and lack of sleep and my mind is dilly right now, so I hope I don't ever mess up by using someone elses words, personally I would be mortified. But maybe your discussions motivate people. I am not certain how I would feel @DianneN .Off to make dinner.xoxox

I know you are battling a nasty cold and hope it goes away quickly. My brother gave us that plant as a gift a few years ago. My other hydrangeas only bloom from old stalks and are not to be cut. I've known you long enough to know you are not a copycat and have your own good vocabulary. Some people have no shame, I guess. My husband put things in perspective for me, so I'm over it, although we did have a good laugh or two. Enjoy your dinner and ttyl. Feel better soon!

If they used your wording in a post, that is just plain wrong. Your hydrangea is beautiful. Love the blue blooms. All of the bushes I have seen are never cut down to the ground. They are pruned back though.

For question number 2 - send a PM to Alex, it's a sort of plagiarism. For question 1 - I cute the stalks down to the ground in late fall.

@DianneN It's a wise decision about those spammers. For the hydrangeas, they grow back even stronger the year after.

i have no idea about hydrangeas but good holy goodness that is gorgeous. I would never stop staring at that. For the second, if it is created by inspiration, that is fine. the greatest movies, novels, shows were all created by inspiration, nothing is original. It is better when someone says, "This was inspired by, (person's name) post." But I know I tend to forget people's names, but I do say my post was inspired by a person on the site. If they quote you, I think they should actually quote you as in they state your name and if they dont, I think you have the right to be like, "hey, that is my line" so you are now a part of that post. But if they keep doing it, that is just weird and should be looked upon. No one should have their work stolen.

Hello DianneN, PLEASE, do not trim your hydrangea bush unless it is overgrown or is making a mess in your yard! Here is a link that explains about trimming hydrangea bushes... As far as question number 2, that would be up to you. I have never seen anyone using anything I have said to begin their own discussion, so I have no opinion on it.

@DianneN You're welcome, Dianne. (I noticed after I answered about your shrub that you had already gotten the answer from someone else. Had I noticed that before I answered I wouldn't have bothered.) I am always happy when I can help you, though! I do hope things go well for you!

Lovely hydrangea. Love the color. How odd about the discussion. I don't know what to say. I think using your wording is wrong. I have read discussions that have given me ideas but then I have written up a post entirely of my own words and ideas. Found it. This might help.

Thank you so much for the link. I will read it later, since I just got home and want to catch up here. I truly appreciate it!!!!! Of course we get ideas from others, but there are certain words only I use, and certain things I've recently written about. However, knowing the history of the culprit, I will let it slide for now. Hopefully, I will never have a chance encounter again.

I am the last person to ask for plant advice. I do know the hydrangea thought it is beautiful and grows all over NC. I love it as it is so cheerful looking. You have a great one there! As for someone creating a post after your discussion think of it as you throwing a pebble in a lake and the ripples created have gone on and on. Many conversations produced from your little pebble! I know it sounds corny but you have inspired someone to write. Surely that is a bonus that you have motivated someone by your post?

2. I often use discussions to spark my own discussions. I don't think I use their wording though. That sounds a bit much. If my topic is really similar to theirs I mention them. 1. I don't know about the hydrangea question.

It's someone I do not follow, and have no desire to. It's the wording that is the most irksome. I found out that that user actually stole someone's entire post idea, and just reworded it. How dull and odd can one possibly be?

I cut off the stalks in fall. I think I talked about that issue in a post. Most response's didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with that, but I find it a tad sneaky. Piggybacking I called it

Oh, my God, such a lovely flower.I have not seen such beauty as this. For the answer to question 1, you may cut as trimming so the flowers can also show themselves to the world of humans. About your question number 2, that person seems to stalk at your discussion. He or she must use his or her own mind. They must think or shrink to the ground.

Mine in the front has a dull white/pinkish color. Glad that you asked that question about pruning it, since I was curious too (I just chopped a few messy looking stalks before reading yours. One year I did it too good that I didn't have any flowers from that bush for 3 years LOL.)

As I've found out, new growth comes from the old wood. It's okay to trim the hydrangeas to shape them. I have several different varieties of hydrangeas, all that have old wood blooms. This one is different, so I could cut it back. So glad I asked! Whew! Otherwise mine wouldn't bloom for three years, too. LOL!
