Non Eventful Day

I spent most of my day on the recliner with the massage pad, working on my back. Because of it I let my friend know I wouldn't be making it to Writer's Guild tonight. She told me to call the chiropractor.
I got in right away today to get a treatment for my back. He could tell it was needed as soon as he moved this wonderful body to see how flexible it isn't. He said I should be feeling better and to call him again if it isn't feeling better by Friday.
Before that I had the biggest joke of a phone call ever. You might recall I went to see an orthopedic doctor regarding knee replacement surgery. He was going to get me in touch with a weight management program. I expected a nutritionist to help me manage my weight and get it off. Not the phone call I got this morning for gastric bypass. I let her know in no uncertain terms I would not be having that kind of surgery. I know I'm overweight, weighing twice what I should, and I'm doing everything I can to get this under control and get rid of it, but gastric bypass is not the answer. Not for me. I'll continue with the fruits and veggies with meat a couple times a week and fish to take care of the protein I need. I will also be in the pool as much as I can be, though today was out of the question. I'm hoping I can get there tomorrow.
I did get a little more work done on Freedom's Cry. I also told my friend, who had proofed it for me, all the problems she missed, and she took it well. We're still friends. I have ten chapters left and less than a hundred pages to go. If my back can handle sitting in this chair for any length of time, I will hopefully have it finished before the end of the week.
In the meantime I'm now well into season 3 of The Originals and this just keeps getting better by the episode.
So I'm going to be here for a little while. My back is doing okay for the moment and I'm doing my best not to take any more Ibuprofen, which I haven't taken since this morning.
I made myself a wonderful snack. My daughter gave me a huge cucumber a week ago and today as I sliced it up, I realized it was perfect for one of my summertime treats. So with a sliced onion and apple cider vinegar, I have been enjoying some vinegar cucumbers. With strawberries on the side.
I'm doing what I can to lose weight and I will lose it, without surgery.
How has your day been? Thanks for reading.

The "mantra" at my gym is that you lose weight in the kitchen and you get strong in the gym. . . basically meaning that you just need to watch what you eat to lose weight. They are very high-protein, medium-fat, and low-carb. Eggs and vegetables for breakfast, salad with protein on top with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for lunch, and grilled meat, vegetables, and a starch like baked potato (white or sweet) or white/brown rice ONLY on days that you have worked out. When I stuck to this diet 100% I lost 44 pounds in 12 weeks.

Well I'm glad you got to the chiropractor and got your back taken care of. I need to see one as my spine is out of line from scoliosis and that is part of why i'm having back issues. I hope this worked for you. That is an unwanted call for sure when that is not what you requested to have done. Doing what you have been doing eating healthier is a good way to lose weight. I hope you keep it up and show those doctors you do not need any kind of surgery.

Beautiful day an I actually mowed the front yard and then jumped in the pool! If I was 600 pounds I think I would prefer to shoot myself rather than have surgery.

@just4him First they tell you don't call it a diet - its a change of eating/lifestyle. it sounds better than way.

@AbbyGreenhill It does sound better. I'm not following a set plan, so I don't really like calling it a diet when all I'm doing is trying to eat healthy.

I probably would too, but since it isn't anywhere near that amount, I'm going to just go at this with a natural diet plan. I'm sure the pool felt good after mowing the lawn.

I agree. There is no way I could consider that surgery. You will be fine with what you are doing right now.

Your attitude about everything is great. The pool is something that you enjoy and will help you in many ways. Don't let them tell you that you need this and that surgery. Just hang in there young lady and things will get better for you. We are all here for you.

I lost 70 pounds with Gods help, then around the holidays neighbors were bringing goodies and friends would have goodies, well I endulged and ended up with a sweet tooth and I gained 20 pounds. Well I got desperate and cried out to God to help me. It's been 20 days and I have not had any junk food I don't have that sweet tooth. I'm eating fruits and trusting God once again to help me get this weight off. It's Him n Him alone helping me and I'm so greatful! I'm so glad to hear you won't do the surgery I know two people personally who had it done and they have nothing but a bunch of health issues, its not a good surgery at all.

I've heard the horror stories of the surgeries, so no, not even thinking about it. I do trust God to help me get this off. I don't generally eat junk food, only on special occasions like birthdays. I rarely buy junk food. I've eliminated all processed food from my diet and have gone completely healthy with my diet and with my time in the pool almost every morning, things will turn around.

I wouldn't want gastric bypass either. Sounds like you have a good handle on what you need to do to lose the weight on your own. I'm sorry to hear that your back is giving you so much trouble.

The chiropractor worked wonders. I'll be here until the notifications are finished, then on to my book and get it done as well.

Very busy.
Can I tell you what Ibuprofen does to me? Gives me a back ache and eventually stops me from urinating. Could some of your back pain be related to Ibuprofen and you not know it?

Doubtful. It's the only OTC that works for me. I can't take any of the others as they are nothing but a placebo to my system. I know the problems associated with it, but it's the only one that works.

Yes he did. I feel great today. At Writer's Guild we talk about the books we write, get pointers on how to make it interesting, what publishers and editors are looking for, anything that has to do with writing, publishing and editing is what we talk about. We're a support group to help each other become good at what we love best - writing.

There is a show called my 600 pound life...it's basically a bunch of really fat people who get gastric by-pass and what they go thru. I always get hungry watching it.

Did the chiropractor help at all?
The Writer's Guild sounds neat! If I had more time to write (maybe when the kids are grown!!
