It is impossible to 'skip' or 'not eat' breakfast

Sure....you can 'skip' a meal when you first wake up, and not eat until lunch time...but the fact is, you are eating breakfast then.
You see, 'breakfast' is actually the meal you eat first after the 'fasting' (non-eating) time while you sleep.
It is the meal that breaks your fasting period.
So if you wait until lunch time, then lunch is when you 'break' your 'fast'...which, no matter how you term it, is still 'breakfast'.
The only way to skip breakfast is to stop eating, period.
Let me know how that works for ya...

I have to eat when I first wake up, or I'll be an angry bear all day long. I'd never survive a religious fasting period, I need to eat like every 2 hours.

@marlina Up until recently, that was definitely the case. I couldn't shove enough calories down my throat to keep up with the amount my body was burning. But I definitely can tell my metabolism is starting to slow down now!

@petatonicsca In Italian is "prima colazione" (first meal) you can skip it and go to the "seconda colazione" (second meal) also called pranzo (lunch).

True enough. In Japanese it's "asa-gohan" or "morning rice" so we can skip it.

So all meals should be called breakfast cause you are actually breaking a fast everytime you eat, the gap between any 2 meals is fasting.

@JolietJake so even drinking is breakfast since fasting is abstaining from any kind of food or drink most of the time, so had you broke fast with whiskey or vodka?

That's why McDonald's started serving breakfast all day long!

I'm glad they did. Many a time I would have preferred their hashbrowns for lunch or mid-afternoon snack. Now I can get them anytime I want (assuming I'm near a McD's).

Brilliant discovery. Having said that your system demands that you break your fast in the mornings.

I had a nurse tell me she lives to eat. Me I eat because I have to. And not when I get up, I break fast at noon.

I never thought of it that way. I just thought there was breakfast, lunch and dinner and which ever one you choose not to eat O well then that was the meal you chose to fast. I'm still trying to grasp your concept. I mean it makes sense to me in some ways than it confuses me in another way. You sure gave me something to think about. Thanks for sharing.

The word refers to the first meal of the day and breaking your fast, not necessarily the time it is eaten.

Yup, my 'breakfast' is my lunch....and supper @JolietJake . I eat at about 1pm. No wonder I only weigh 106 pounds.

Um, no, he is eating breakfast later, if you go by the the definition of what breakfast is. It is the first meal of the day you eat, period.

Actually, you are having breakfast, since by definition it is the first meal after waking regardless of when you eat it
