Good morning. The more I see this, the more that I am sadden by the disaster of Harvey. It is unbelievable what is going on there. Anyone here doing their share. You can donate ten dollars to the Red Cross. They need your help.If you can spare the ten or even less this will be helpful. you will feel good about this. The only problem is the scam artist there.Oh!yes they are out there. These people are thugs.Just be careful if you donated . Now for Mike and I will go to the Red Cross here in town. The photo is one of the many picture from Texas. This was online We are going to make a donation. That the least we can do. I know many here cannot afford it.I understand. Thank you.Alfredo&Michael. Change Lives with Your Gift. Donate Now.

Yes they are saying that money donations is the way to go not blankets and food and other things but real hard cold money. I have read many places to donate one being the Salvation Army..but I am not sure about that either. I know Red Cross usually is the best one.

I am torn about the Red Cross. They have a HUGE operating cost which means that a lot of the donation money pays salaries and other things. . . it doesn't go to help victims who need relief. That being said, after Sandy I remember them driving up and down the streets of my neighborhood offering hot meals to anyone who needed them because so many were without power for days and days and even weeks.

There's also Catholic Charities, which do a lot of good in that area. I understand what you mean about being conflicted with donating to the Red Cross because of their big operating costs, but they are the best equipped to handle a disaster of this scale. A friend of mine in the Houston area posted a list on her Facebook wall of places to donate that are directly helping in that region. I may make a post about that soon.

That is really terrible that people would take advantage of a situation like that. I usually donate to causes within Canada, and donated to our Red Cross for the wildfires out west. Charity starts at home, right?

I'm glad you're able to do so. I heard about it a couple days ago. Yes, you do need to be careful of all the scams. Going directly to the Red Cross is best.

We are absolutely powerless when Mother Nature decides to show her strength. Well done for donating. I know we are able too as well so will do that soon.

It is so sad to see what's happening in Texas but even sadder that people will scam money for donations. Giving to the Red Cross is the wisest and safest.

I donated my air miles and other rewards to help get volunteers out there. Some churches are asking for baby food, diapers, women hygeine products and warm blankets. I give to helping hands and churches. Safeway also is taking donations at check out. So many ways to give.

I've heard that the diaper bank in that area needs funds badly, as many parents are desperate. I'll find out the name of it when I get home.
