Why I agree with Donald Trump on immigration problem

Immigration leads to unplanned increase in population. Population as we know needs to be provided for, food, clothing, shelter, medicines, transport, etc. Tax payers pay for much of it...hey your roads, rail roads, police stations, legal system, health care, water, electricity, just about everything that you take for granted, has something coming from the tax payer. The more the number of people, the more you need those taxes. But here is the problem. The more the number of people, the income gets distributed over wider base, which means many disappear from the tax net as their incomes would be less than taxable incomes. Effectively, tax collections will be lower, and so government would have to cut somewhere. There comes a time when it hurts. Like healthcare. There are many who would not like to forego having babies. (Caucasian population is lower when compared to most other races...and so far, they have contributed the most to all discoveries, medical research, and developments). So I am not hitting out at the Americans. I am not hitting out at other races either. I am merely saying the numbers determine how much you will have with you, for spending on research and developing new things that will take you forward). It follows that higher numbers means falling behind in such development and research!!! Will these immigrants stick around when there are greener pastures elsewhere? Nope! If they were that kind, they would have stayed in their motherland fought to make it better... if they can't, they have nothing to contribute to America either. They are fleeing their country for lucre, not for their lives. They don't need help...come on! There is difference between these immigrants and those that built today's America. They brought values with them and they fought for getting new values in place as well. These will peddle drugs to survive in the country and gain the benefit of food stamps, medical care, etc., instead of fighting the drug cartel. BUT IS THE WAY TRUMP GOING ABOUT IT THE RIGHT WAY? No...sigh...that wall can be broken, it means additional expense of keeping the wall in shape, additional burden on tax payer for that...and how do you check whether they are not coming up with some underground tunnels, or going across waters? No technologies available as yet to keep them off borders as yet... I would let the immigrant in. Their 5 generations would have to serve the country by joining armed forces. Let them prove their loyalty to the country.

Well, I am an "immigrant", so it's better that I keep my mouth shut. I love the country where I live now, a lot better than my native country.

@LadyDuck ..12 years is not enough in many cases. I could study for 12 years and not contribute a single penny to exchequer.

@hereandthere No, I do not, you must live in the country and be resident for at least 12 years before to ask to apply. I still miss a couple of years.

We must also remember that migrants work and pay taxes. We have farms that failed this year because there was no one to work and gather the crops. We also have many migrants serving in the military. All our ancestors came from somewhere and stole the Americans Indians land. I would like to think we aren't so selfish as to deny the same privilege to others freely. the wall is a ridiculous idea..It wont keep anyone out and it will cost taxpayers billions.

@RubyHawk .. I agree wall is a ridiculous idea. But it is difficult to plan for additional population. No..I don't think Indians would have survived the attack from those tribes from Mexico. Indians for whatever it is worth were more evolved when compared to others down south. To top it all, Spanish invasion did not help, unlike immigration that happened in the USA and Canada. So compared to invasion, immigration proved better. Because of immigration, perhaps, Spanish did not move towards the north. They had better arms to defeat the locals in Mexico and down South. Northern parts they were ill equipped to tackle, perhaps, considering that Europeans were there. As to American Indians, are they not allowed to take up jobs? Can they not get good food? Poorest land in the country means they are not leaving cultivation. Farmers anywhere are usually poor. We are comparing them thinking they had everything when they were attacked. That is not true. They were having regular fights among tribes. Today they have better medical facilities. And food security through food stamps. As I said, I would go for going for contract labor...........go to a country like China or India or Pakistan or Bangladesh or Sri Lanka or Mynamar or Philippine...interview people for one year / season contract........take permits and bring them in the country. The pay would be reasonable, but clearly responsibility to send them back would be mine. Of them, some would be good for the next year, so I could extend the contract for another year.

I am paying taxes for something which does not apply to me. Unless I become a citizen, which I do not intend to. Have always supported Trump on immigrant issues. But if I dive in to find exactly what those ideas are, I may start differing. So, not trying.

@DaddyEvil Thanks DE but I am not exempt from these taxes. And the best reason for that is "Most people in this category tend to apply for a green card and become a resident. In that case it is better (read less hassle) to automatically consider them liable for the taxes. It simplifies the process (claps)". Other reason is the authority approving the entry and the one overlooking the taxes are independent. They feel it's a bad thing to collaborate. Convenience, again. Plus, no one is going protest... lest they get deported from the Country of Dreams!

Well..DE told you what needed to be told. My reasons for not liking unconditional and uncontrolled immigration...I have already told you. In Rohingyas case, there is genocide in progress, so temporary home I feel can be given with conditions. The conditions have to be stringent...so that they opt to return to their motherland in due course when things quieten down there.

I am sorry, YOU! IDK why you are paying taxes for Social Security or other taxes that only benefit citizens of the United States. Maybe there is a good reason for that. Okay, I just looked at the tax laws. Were you told you could file a tax return here and you may get the amount you paid for Social Security returned to you? If not, I am telling you this now! You may also get back other amounts you pay while you are living and working in this country, too. (You should talk to a tax consultant in the United States.)

I agree in a way, but he goes about it all wrong and people do in general in my opinion. It comes across as hate and really is hateful with how you see people thumb their nose down on people who are looking to improve their lives. Then they turn it around and go, see, look at these savages, why don't they want to improve their lives? It makes no sense and just makes everything a million times worse. Then again, Obama tried to be rational about it and people just distorted what he was trying to say with more hate. Why I say people are not even trying anymore. We will be headed for extinction if we keep this dumb behavior up.

Such things need to be explained rationally...Obama did not rationalize the way it needed to be told. Even outsourcing bit was wrong.

@vandana7 Maybe, but Trumps way works? Could have fooled me. Out sourcing worked to some extent, to people's dismay. There is never going to be a 100 percent full proof answer, but Trump has this country at each others throat and could explode any second if someone does not put him in check. People are just selfish and only care about themselves. That is really all it comes down to.That and the world is to over populated which no one addresses, except maybe China and their answer has not worked very well either.

@vandana7 Their politicians and only care about money. Must be hard to throw common sense out the window to make sure they profit. Really why everything is so complicated because they never take the obvious simple route. They have to have a plan where they and their corporate buddies reap most of the benefits.

A lot of what you have said is very true but as for that wall you should live here first before making such a statement. It is a simple walk from Mexico into El Paso and then those who are criminals become part of the homeless problem and commit all kinds of burglaries etc. As you pointed out the taxpayers provide the funds for law enforcement and with the border so easily crossed here imagine how much we're paying law enforcement to try to get a handle on the problem. I will never understand how anyone can make judgements about territories they have never lived in.

@rebelann .. I have heard the problem being discussed on television, and I have seen one guy lifting some barbed wire saying that is where they come from and they just have to steal from me and go to the other end, and I can do nothing about it. I would rather have a bunch of dogs maintained out there...barking at entrants..encourage dog owners to have home out there...and pay them something for reporting a person taking pictures and uploading on specific site so that the illegal immigrant can be caught easily ...

I want to see if people understand it, and decide based on that how to go about resolving the problem. Merely voting and not voting, or being for or against it will not do.

@vandana7 I more than understand it, but there is the constant flow coming in and only new laws can stop it, but they are being shot down at every turn of the road by those who would make this country and other countries around the world fall, those who are for other ideas such as an insane one world government. This topic relates to me directly in ways that have directly affected my life Vanny. Also over population is another factor.

We do not need a wall. Illegal entries have been reduced about 70% since we got a new president because he stated that he would enforce our immigration laws. If the only thing we do is enforce the laws we already have, we will have taken care of the illegal immigration problem. However, I would also say that we need to make legal immigration easier, less costly, and faster. My DIL is from Mexico, just a couple hours' drive from where we live, and she and my son have spent thousands for her to get a green card permitting her temporary citizenship and the right to work here. They went through a lot of financial hardship getting that green card and a lot of interviews. They had to prove that they were happily married, not married just so she could get a green card. The whole thing was expensive, time consuming, and ridiculous. If we could streamline the citizenship/green card process and make it more affordable, I would be happy with things as they are--enforcing our laws and welcoming those who come here legally.

Hi Vandana, I agree with you. Now a days most of the people just want to go and settle in USA no matter from where they are. So whatever Trump thinks is right in the security or maintenance point of view.

Yeah...you will understand it better now with Rohingyas coming over ...what happens is say there is 100 kilos of rice produced. It is eaten by 100 members. Suddenly you have to spare for 120. Everybody starts getting less...and those who have can afford ..those who can't afford start falling back. I was shocked. They are already in so much problem and yet each woman had four or five children. Where is the love for those children? One child, she can happily keep safe, if five are there, which child's safety will she compromise on ...sigh. There is a mistaken belief that women should not refuse to conceive. Not having too many children is also a way to show love to children. It ensures everybody gets proper food, medication, education, and has some scope for job. Sigh. You country surely must be in dilemma with UN asking you all to give shelter, and Myanmar declaring them as terrorists ...no easy solution to this...

I think reasoning it out ..explaining it to people...would have better results than building that wall. Like I discussed the matter above...if this was explained ...and alternatives to their labor needs were suggested and then suggestions were asked and given to change immigration laws, it would work...building a wall seems funny to me...I know people will be traveling by air, they might even start hijacking and demanding things...silly.

@YrNemo You know what...I would rather build some canals towards arid regions of the country and use huge pumps from each bayou of Houston to pump into those canals...so that people get sufficient water and can inhabit such areas.
