Bicarb is amazing

I used to make a paper mache volcano and put bicarb, vinegar and cream of tartar in the middle. That was always great fun. Nowadays I clean my sink with bicarb and my stove top and my windows and the other day I made a bizarre mixture of bicarb apple cider vinegar and lemon juice and drank and didn't want to eat for a whole day so now I'm thinking of going on a diet with that wierd each morning... if I can only bear to drink it again! Lately I've also cleaned a silver necklace with bicarb and had a bath with it in as it draws out impurities. Bicarb is my new wonder household item but in the UK you can't buy it in a big tub like you can in the US which is a real drag. Do you use bicarbonate of soda? If so what for?

Oh yes now I remember that I once Tudor post about washing some white things in bicarbonate of soda and they were whiter thann with just ordinary laundry powder.

Certainly it has a lot of uses. I used to dissolve some in warm water and bathe Herc's eye with it when it was discharging.

@Marilynda1225 That is one I have never heard. I will bear that in mind if the cat ever has an eye infection!

I have a dog with an eye problem and this sounds like a good solution. I'm going to try it

I use bicarbonate for a lot of things, I clean the copper with it, remove small scratches from the surfaces and I even use a spoon of it in the washing machine to soften the laundry.

I love using it with vinegar for cleaning my sink drain. Keeps the pipes running smoothly. Wasn't that mixture of bicarb, vinegar and lemon juice bitter?

It was really bitter and I'm not even sure how I drank it but I really didn't want to eat anything for a long time afterwards so I think it probably was worth the effort.

It is a miracle! I use it to brush my teeth after a peroxide swish once a week. It twinkles and whitens my teeth.

Just checked on the baking soda and yes, I've used it. Mostly for baking and taking the odor from the fridge. I'll need to look into what else I can do with it.

The Internet is full of articles on 10 ways to use it and stuff like that. I put it into some shoes the other day and it got rid of the odour.

@Jackalyn I'm sure it did. Since I'm not baking at the moment, I should look into those articles and put it to good use.
